ASAM ODS Database Access from Python

Is there a way to access ASAM ODS* databases using python? ASAM ODS is a well-defined standard for measurement data, seems sensible that there is a python library for it, but I can't find anything.

Nothing to do with .ods OpenDocument Spreadsheets!

Database component of a simple website

I am a second year Comp Sci student applying for a job at a tech company. For this application we are put through a series of coding challenges to see if we make it through to the next round of the application. For the second round my challenge goes as follows:

? We require you to build a small website using Django and to host it locally.

? You need to be able to leverage the quick turn around time that Django allows but also put extra effort into it so that you have a working website.

? Ensure your site has at least 3 pages and at least 1 database-driven component.

? Past examples of sites from candidates are simple sites for fictional bands, or political candidates.

Now I have never coded a website before but have done the codecademy tutorials so I managed to put together a basic layout of a website for a musician that happens to be me since I am an amateur musician with 2 "albums".

What I don't really understand is the database component of the website. I don't really understand why I would need one.

I thought I could have my mp3's as BLOB's on the database, but I don't see how that is more advantageous than simply having the mp3's in a folder in the website.

I also thought to maybe put the mp3 metadata on the database i.e. Title, Album, Artist, Year etc. but I don't really see the point since there are too few songs to have to implement a search function on the mp3's.

Is there something I am missing here? What would your database component be if you were coding a site for a 'fictional band'?

MySQL LEFT JOIN not bringing correct result

I have a school report card management system, that allows teachers to add marks into the database.

But for the teacher to be able to insert marks into the database he/she needs to login and when He/she logs into the system he/she will find a list of students he/she teaches and the subjects he/she is teaching and the subjects he/she is teaching to those students.

I have this MySQL query, that retrieves the records from the database. Here is the problem; Teacher A who teaches subject X logs in and inserts marks for student Z, and after inserting the marks then logs out. Then Teacher B who teaches subject Y logs into the system, teacher B will find marks inserted by Teacher A on Subject Y even though, teacher B has not yet entered the marks.

Here is the MySQL code;
SELECT marks.test_1, students.id, students.student_id, students.student_name, subjects.subject_name, forms.form_name, teacherxsubject.form_id, students.class, teacherxsubject.subject_id, teacherxsubject.teacher_id FROM `students` LEFT JOIN teacherxsubject ON students.class = teacherxsubject.form_id LEFT JOIN marks ON students.student_id = marks.student_id LEFT JOIN subjects ON subjects.subject_id = teacherxsubject.subject_id LEFT JOIN forms ON forms.form_id = teacherxsubject.form_id WHERE teacherxsubject.teacher_id=192
SQLite Database Android - Joining Tables

Hi guys, i am new on working for joining tables on my android application. I have my 3 tables named EMPLOYEES, PASSWALL and NOTEPAD. I want to access the other tables using a foreign key on my EMPLOYEES table. Do you get my point?

I need a QUERY for that and how to SELECT it and how to access datas on other tables.

So how is the approach for that? thanks appreciate your suggestions.

Tool to detect addresses via machine learning

I'm currently developing a tool aiming to detect addresses (or any pattern, like job, sport team or anything) in a text.

So what I'm currently doing:

1/ Splitting the text in words 2/ Stemming the words

Users can create categories (job, sport team, address...) and will manually assign a sentence to a category.

Each stemmed word of this sentence will be stored in DB, with an updated score (+1)

When I will browse a new document, I will compute for each sentence the score thanks to all words in it.

Example:

I live in Brown Street, in London

=> (live+1, Brown +1, Street+1, London+1)

Then next time I see

I live in Orange Street, in London The score will be 3 (live +1, Street+1, London+1) so I can say "this sentence might be an address". If user validates, I update the words (live+1, orange+1, street+1, london+1). If he says "inaccurate", all words will be downvoted.

I think with more runs, I will be able to detect addresses since "Street" and "London" will have a large score (same for zip code etc)

My question is:

First, what do you think about this approach? Secondly, context is just ignored with this approach. A sentence with Street & London should have a better score. It means if I detect Street & London in the same sentence, we can likely say it's an address.

How can I store this information in a database? I'm currently using a relational database (MySQL), but I'm afraid the size will become huge if I store the link between each word.

Is it what we call a neural network? What is the best way to store it?

Do you have any tips to upgrade my detection algorithm?

complex database design for many checkboxes
