Check the storage options and boot requirements for the exact module generation and variant. Plan how a blank unit receives its first image and how a technician recovers a nonbooting unit. Storage choice changes the hardware access and workflow required for those operations.

Estimate write volume, durability requirements and the effect of abrupt power loss. Keep application data and system-update design in the discussion rather than choosing solely on peak transfer speed. Include the replacement and service process for externally accessible storage.

Test factory provisioning and recovery on the intended carrier, not only the official IO board. Document connectors, boot controls and image verification. A production unit should not require improvised test wires merely because programming access was omitted after the prototype worked.
