Confirm the exact part's bank layout, execution restrictions and supported update flow. Separate storage capacity from boot policy: having two banks does not by itself decide which image is trusted, complete or suitable to boot after an interrupted update.

Define image validation, version compatibility and a recoverable state transition for selecting the new image. Keep boot metadata resilient to interruption. Include application configuration in the design, because an older firmware image may not understand data already rewritten by a newer one.

Test power interruption at each update stage on recoverable development hardware. Verify behavior with incomplete images, failed first-boot checks and damaged metadata. Use the vendor's supported boot and security mechanisms where appropriate, with a documented recovery procedure for development and production.
