Start with deadlines, shared data and peripheral ownership. A split that repeatedly transfers large buffers or requires a lock around every operation can add overhead. Identify a task with a clear input, output and timing contract before moving it to another core.

Measure communication latency and shared-memory bandwidth under simultaneous load. Include startup ordering, reset behavior and failure handling in the interface. Use bounded messages or explicit buffer ownership so one stalled participant cannot silently corrupt another core's data.

Compare the partitioned application with a working single-core baseline. Record worst-case response time, memory use and energy, not just aggregate CPU utilization. Keep the split only if the measured benefit justifies its synchronization and maintenance cost.
