A supported hardware event route can remove software interrupt latency from the conversion-start path and reduce CPU wakeups. Configure the generator, channel and ADC event user for the exact device. Availability, synchronization and clock requirements vary, so a route shown for one AVR family should not be assumed valid on another.

The result still needs to be collected before it is overwritten, and the sample rate must fit the ADC's acquisition and conversion timing. Define how overruns are detected. Hardware accumulation or other available facilities may reduce software work, but they also affect the interpretation and timing of the result.

Measure the sample timing and total board current with the intended sleep mode enabled. Confirm that every peripheral and clock required by the event path remains operational. A sleeping CPU does not prove the complete chain is active, and a functioning chain does not by itself establish the lowest system power consumption.
