List the exact hardware functions the product needs: storage, networking, display, camera, codecs, GPIO and low-power modes. Compare support for the precise board revision and image. A familiar Debian or Ubuntu userspace does not establish which board-specific drivers and firmware are present.

Review maintenance, update delivery and the ability to rebuild the kernel and boot components alongside feature coverage. A vendor image may provide specialized hardware support while a different branch has other maintenance advantages. Evaluate the actual releases instead of treating either label as a guarantee.

Test the critical interfaces under sustained load and preserve a recoverable working image. Record bootloader, kernel, device tree and firmware together. Armbian's board and branch information can help identify the software configuration, but application readiness still needs a board-level test.
