Start with supported models, numeric formats and the deployment toolchain. The AI HAT+ 2 differs from the earlier HAT in accelerator and onboard memory, and the current Pi documentation describes additional generative-AI support. A larger operation-rate figure alone does not establish compatibility with a chosen model.

Measure the complete task: input preparation, transfers, model execution and output handling. For vision, report result latency and dropped frames; for a language model, distinguish prompt processing from token generation. Keep model size, precision and input conditions identical when comparing results.

Include cooling, power, mechanical clearance and the PCIe connection in the decision. Follow the supported software setup and validate the exact model before committing a product design. A demonstration that starts successfully is only the beginning of sustained-load and accuracy testing.
