What is Arduino ?

Arduino board introduction for beginners, Arduino basics, microcontroller board, beginner electronics

Hello friends! Today we will answer a basic question: what is Arduino, and how do we use it? If you have seen projects that read a sensor, flash an LED or move a small motor, you have probably encountered an Arduino board. This introduction explains the board, the program and the surrounding circuit as separate parts of one system. We will use the classic Arduino Uno R3 as our main example because many tutorials in this series use it. Arduino includes many other boards, so the Uno's processor, pin count and voltage must not be assumed to describe the entire platform. This article is the introduction to our Arduino Projects learning guide . By the end, you should understand what a sketch does, how it reaches the board, what the pins can do and how to choose a sensible first project. Figure: ...

Getting Started With Microcontrollers

PIC18F452 microcontroller used in the introductory tutorial series, PIC18F452, microcontroller basics, embedded hardware

Hello friends! Today, we are starting our microcontroller tutorial series from the basics. Before connecting a PIC, installing a compiler or writing an LED-blinking program, we need to understand what a microcontroller does and how its software interacts with an electrical circuit. Think of a project that reads a push button, changes a pattern of lights and reports its operating state. A microcontroller can coordinate those actions by repeatedly reading inputs, applying programmed rules and updating outputs. The same basic idea appears in sensor loggers, small robots, appliance controls and many other embedded systems. In this series, our detailed hardware example will be the PIC18F452. We will first learn the general ideas, then study that device's connections and development tools. You d ...
