The 4-pin fan is the cooling fan you find on every CPU cooler, in PC cases and power supplies, on 3D printers and in electronics enclosures. Unlike a plain DC fan, it has a controller inside: you give it 12 V, tell it how fast to run with a 25 kHz PWM signal on one wire, and it tells you how fast it really runs with pulses on another wire.
