The TB6600 is the black box with a heat sink that you find next to almost every hobby CNC router, laser cutter and large 3D printer. It drives a bipolar stepper motor with up to 3.5 A per coil from a 9 - 42 V supply, its DIP switches set the microsteps and the current, and its inputs are optocoupled, so an Arduino drives it with three wires: PUL, DIR and ENA.
