The D1 R2 is the ESP8266 board for people who come from the Arduino UNO: an ESP-12F Wi-Fi module on a board with the UNO's size, shape and headers, a micro-USB socket, a DC jack and a RESET button. With this library it runs your ESP8266 sketch in Proteus - ESP8266WiFi with its network scan and signal strength, ESP8266WebServer, ESP8266mDNS, the D0 to D15 names of the board - and joins a Wi-Fi network inside the simulation.
