WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no ESP32 processor model, so this is NOT a real ESP32 chip. Our team has put a lot of effort into building
this board ourselves: it is Adafruit's ESP32 Feather V2 - the slim 28-pin Feather with the ESP32-PICO-MINI-02 module and
its PCB antenna, USB-C, the RESET and BOOT buttons, the JST battery socket, the STEMMA QT socket, the NeoPixel, the red
LED and the charge LED - that runs YOUR ESP32 Arduino sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal Feather sketch (A0 .. A5, 13, 12, 27, 33, 15, 32, 14, 37, analogRead 0-4095, analogWrite,
ledcWrite,
attachInterrupt, Wire on SDA / SCL, SPI on SCK / MO / MI, Serial1 on RX / TX, rgbLedWrite on the NeoPixel, WiFi,
WebServer, HTTPClient, ESPmDNS ...) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our board package "TEP Boards for
Proteus"
1.41.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* The board model (TEPNET.DLL) runs the compiled sketch: the pins with their Feather names, RST, the BOOT button on
GPIO38, the red LED on GPIO13, the NeoPixel, the built-in serial monitor and the Wi-Fi radio.
* Wi-Fi: a virtual router (TEP-WiFi, password 12345678 - the WIFISSID / WIFIPASS properties) with DHCP (192.168.1.101
for U1), a scan list, RSSI, mDNS names, NTP time, TCP and UDP between all the TEP Wi-Fi parts in the design.
The board is drawn at its real proportions (52.3 x 22.8 mm), seen from above and turned so the USB-C port is on the
left:
RESET and BOOT next to it, the JST socket, the NeoPixel, the CHG and 13 LEDs, the module, the PCB antenna on the right
and
the STEMMA QT socket (top row: BAT EN USB 13 12 27 33 15 32 14 SCL SDA; bottom row: RST 3V NC GND A0 .. A5 SCK MO MI
RX TX
37).
TEP additions: the PCB antenna changes colour with the Wi-Fi (gold not joined, green on Wi-Fi, orange sending, cyan
receiving), the PANEL pad (or the module) opens the board's panel, the USB-C port opens the serial monitor.
Limits (say them before you start): your sketch gets 8 KB of RAM in the simulation (the real board: 2 MB of PSRAM),
about
256 KB of flash, int is 16 bits in the simulation (use long / int32_t for big numbers), no FreeRTOS tasks, no second
core,
no Bluetooth, no battery, no ESP-IDF, no real TLS, no soft AP. BAT, EN and NC are pads without a pin. See MODEL SCOPE
AND
LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "FEATHER" in Pick Devices):
ESP32 FEATHER V2 "ESP32 Feather V2" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > ESP32 Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL. The panel
(a
TEP pop-up window; the PANEL pad opens it): Wi-Fi (a phone: OPEN ESP32 PAGE, the router's list), Pins (every pin
live),
Test, Settings, Help. The serial monitor (115200 baud) has Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs (the Board tab: the LEDs,
RESET, BOOT, every pin). Like every TEP window it has no Windows title bar. One ESP32 Feather V2 per design.
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other Wi-Fi boards and the Laptop / Mobile WiFi Monitors; it replaces any older
TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 30 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* ESP32-Feather-V2-Grow-Light: the monitor printed "BH1750 ready", "Connecting to TEP-WiFi", "Grow light page:
http://192.168.1.101/", ">> Lamp ON (too dark, 500 lx)" and "Light 500 lx lamp ON mode AUTO lamp time 1 s"; the
NeoPixel orange, the red LED and the charge LED on, the relay energised, the antenna green on Wi-Fi.
* The laptop (192.168.1.21) opened http://192.168.1.101/json and the phone (192.168.1.41) http://192.168.1.101/ (HTTP
200).
* Sun 30k on the BH1750's pop-up: ">> Lamp OFF (enough daylight, 24269 lx)" (a measurement taken as the light changed;
the next ones read 30000 lx), the NeoPixel green, the red LED off, the relay released.
* Overcast 2k: "Light 2000 lx lamp OFF mode AUTO": no change, it is above 1500 lx.
* Room 150: ">> Lamp ON (too dark, 150 lx)".
* OFF on the phone: "Mode OFF (the web page)", ">> Lamp OFF (by hand, 150 lx)", the NeoPixel blue; AUTO: "Mode AUTO (the
web page)", ">> Lamp ON (too dark, 150 lx)".
* About 36 s of simulation, no errors, with the pop-ups, the panel, the monitor and both tools open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPFEATHERV2.LIB is the board;
the
others are the demo's parts: TEPBH1750.LIB, TEPRELAY.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPBH1750.DLL, TEPRELAY.DLL) to the MODELS folder
(...\Proteus 8
Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the ESP32 Feather V2).
4. Delete TEPFEATHERV2.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards Manager
once). Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > ESP32 Feather V2 (TEP Proteus). The demo also needs BH1750 by
Christopher Laws (Library Manager).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "FEATHER".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
ESP32-Feather-V2-Grow-Light.pdsprj - U1 the ESP32 Feather V2 (FeatherV2_Grow_Light.hex) is a grow-light controller: U2
= the
BH1750 light sensor on I2C (SDA, SCL; ADDR to GND = address 0x23) and RLY1 = the relay module on GPIO27 (the pin 27; the
relay is active LOW). PC1 the Laptop WiFi Monitor opens http://192.168.1.101/json, MOB1 the Mobile WiFi Monitor the page
http://192.168.1.101/. The BH1750 and the relay are the Advance versions: they open their pop-up windows at Run.
The sketch reads the light once a second. In AUTO the lamp goes on below 800 lx and off above 1500 lx: the gap between
the
two stops it chattering when a cloud passes. The NeoPixel is green with enough daylight, orange when the lamp is helping
and blue when the lamp is forced by hand. The red LED on GPIO13 follows the lamp. The BOOT button (GPIO38) steps AUTO,
ON
and OFF; the page's buttons and the monitor do the same.
Press Run. The board joins TEP-WiFi; at 500 lx the lamp is on. On the BH1750's pop-up click Sun 30k: the lamp goes
off, the
NeoPixel green. Overcast 2k: nothing changes (it is above 1500 lx). Room 150: the lamp goes on. On the phone click
OFF, then
AUTO.
The supply: in the demo the sensor's VCC is Proteus' power rail; on a real board it sits on the Feather's 3V. Set GPIO2
HIGH first, as the sketch does: on the real board it powers the NeoPixel and the STEMMA QT socket.
Closed a window? The USB-C port of the board opens the monitor, the PANEL pad the panel. The monitor (115200) prints
every
change and a status line every 5 s and takes STATUS, AUTO, ON and OFF.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
A0 .. A5 GPIO26, 25, 34, 39, 36, 4: analogRead 0 .. 4095 for 0 .. 3.3 V, GPIO (34, 39 and 36 are inputs only)
13, 12, 27, 33, 15, 32, 14 those GPIOs: GPIO, analogRead, PWM, interrupt; 13 is the red LED too
SDA / SCL GPIO22 / 20: Wire
SCK / MO / MI GPIO5 / 19 / 21: SPI
RX / TX GPIO7 / 8: Serial1
37 GPIO37: an input
RST resets the board; 3V, USB, GND: 3.3 V (the logic), 5 V, ground
On the board: BOOT = GPIO38 (BUTTON, LOW when pressed), the NeoPixel = RGB_BUILTIN (rgbLedWrite), GPIO2 = its power,
Serial = the USB
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with ESP32 Feather V2 (TEP Proteus))
WIFISSID the router in range (default TEP-WiFi); WIFIPASS its password (default 12345678)
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on Serial; BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
TIME the clock for NTP: PC (the PC's clock) or YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS in UTC
The IP address follows the part's number: U1 192.168.1.101, U2 .102 ...
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing happens at Run: the HEX was not built with TEP Boards for Proteus - select ESP32 Feather V2 (TEP Proteus) and
export again.
* "BH1750 NOT FOUND": SDA and SCL on the Feather's SDA and SCL pins, ADDR on GND (0x23).
* The relay never clicks: the relay module is active LOW, its IN is on the pin 27.
* The board stays off the network: the sketch's SSID / password differ from WIFISSID / WIFIPASS.
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits in the simulation - use long.
* The page shows old values: tap Reload (the monitors do not reload by themselves).

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download Adafruit ESP32 Feather V2 Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
Adafruit ESP32 Feather V2 Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 233 files (3.7 MB, 8.4 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 233 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, 3622f109afe9aa9f399b3f4991bae929209d4ff1ece0c78b8797f599315d2e07. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "adafruit-esp32-feather-v2-tep-v1-0-f2dccd54d83e480c90076ad1906a4257.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "adafruit-esp32-feather-v2-tep-v1-0-f2dccd54d83e480c90076ad1906a4257.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
