WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no ESP32-C5 processor model, so this is NOT a real ESP32-C5 chip. Our team has put a lot of effort into
building this board ourselves: it is Espressif's ESP32-C5-DevKitC-1 - the 32-pin board with the ESP32-C5-WROOM-1 module,
its PCB antenna, the two USB-C ports, the RST and BOOT buttons, the PWR LED and the addressable RGB LED - that runs YOUR
ESP32-C5 Arduino sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal ESP32-C5 sketch (the GPIO numbers of the board, A0 .. A5, analogRead 0-4095, analogWrite,
ledcWrite, attachInterrupt, Wire, SPI, Serial, rgbLedWrite on the RGB LED, WiFi, WebServer, HTTPClient, ESPmDNS,
configTime ...) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our board package "TEP Boards for Proteus" 1.43.0 (in Arduino
Code - see INSTALLATION).
* The board model (TEPNET.DLL) runs the compiled sketch: the pins with their GPIO numbers, RST, the BOOT button on
GPIO28, the RGB LED on GPIO27, the built-in serial monitor and the Wi-Fi radio.
* Wi-Fi: a virtual router (TEP-WiFi, password 12345678 - the WIFISSID / WIFIPASS properties) with DHCP (192.168.1.101
for U1), a scan list, RSSI, mDNS names, NTP time, TCP and UDP between all the TEP Wi-Fi parts in the design.
The board is drawn at its real proportions, seen from above and turned so the USB-C ports are on the left: RST and BOOT
next to them, the PWR and RGB LEDs, the module with its antenna on the right (top row: NC G 5V 25 26 10 9 8 7 6 1 0 3 2
RST 3V3; bottom row: NC G 13 14 G 28 NC 5 4 27 NC 23 24 RX TX G).
TEP additions: the PCB antenna's colours (gold not joined, green on Wi-Fi, orange sending, cyan receiving), the PANEL
pad
(or the module) opens the board's panel, the USB-C ports open the serial monitor.
Limits (say them before you start): your sketch gets 8 KB of RAM in the simulation (the real board: 384 KB plus 8 MB of
PSRAM), about 256 KB of flash, int is 16 bits in the simulation (use long / int32_t for big numbers), no FreeRTOS tasks,
no 5 GHz band (the virtual router is one network), no Bluetooth LE, no Zigbee or Thread, no ESP-IDF, no real TLS, no
soft
AP. See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "ESP32-C5" in Pick Devices):
ESP32-C5 DEVKITC-1 "ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > ESP32 Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL. The
panel (a TEP pop-up window; the PANEL pad opens it): Wi-Fi (a phone: OPEN ESP32 PAGE, the router's list), Pins (every
pin live), Test, Settings, Help. The serial monitor (115200 baud) has Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs (the Board tab:
the LED, RST, BOOT, every pin). Like every TEP window it has no Windows title bar.
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other Wi-Fi boards and the Laptop / Mobile WiFi Monitors; it replaces any older
TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 30 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* ESP32-C5-WiFi-Weather-Station: the monitor printed "BME280 ready", "Connecting to TEP-WiFi", "Weather page:
http://192.168.1.101/", ">> Comfort: COMFORTABLE", ">> Forecast: FAIR" and "T 24.0 C H 50 % P 1018 hPa dew 12.9 C
COMFORTABLE / FAIR"; the OLED showed the same readings, the RGB LED green, the antenna green on Wi-Fi.
* The laptop (192.168.1.21) opened http://192.168.1.101/json and the phone (192.168.1.41) http://192.168.1.101/ (HTTP
200).
* SUNNY on the BME280's pop-up: ">> Comfort: HOT", the RGB LED red. RAINY: ">> Comfort: HUMID", ">> Forecast: CHANGE",
"T 16.0 C H 92 % P 1002 hPa dew 14.7 C HUMID / CHANGE". STORM: ">> Forecast: STORM", "T 22.0 C H 95 % P 975 hPa
dew 21.2 C HUMID / STORM", the RGB LED flashing white.
* On the phone: C / F "Unit now F (the web page)", RESET "Min and max reset (the web page)", LED "LED off (the web
page)".
* About 40 s of simulation, no errors, with the pop-ups, the panel, the monitor and both tools open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPESP32C5.LIB is the board; the
others are the demo's parts: TEPBME280.LIB, TEPOLED12864.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPBME280.DLL, TEPOLED.DLL) to the MODELS folder (...\Proteus 8
Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1).
4. Delete TEPESP32C5.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards Manager
once). Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1 (TEP Proteus). The demo also needs Adafruit
BME280,
Adafruit Unified Sensor, Adafruit SSD1306, Adafruit GFX and Adafruit BusIO (Library Manager).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "ESP32-C5".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
ESP32-C5-WiFi-Weather-Station.pdsprj - U1 the ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1 (ESP32C5_Weather_Station.hex) is a weather station with
its own web page: U2 = the BME280 on I2C (SDA GPIO0, SCL GPIO1, address 0x76) and OLED1 = the 0.96" SSD1306 OLED
(0x3C) on
the same bus. PC1 the Laptop WiFi Monitor opens http://192.168.1.101/json, MOB1 the Mobile WiFi Monitor the page
http://192.168.1.101/. The BME280 and the OLED are the Advance versions: they open their pop-up windows at Run.
The sketch reads the sensor every 2 s and works out the dew point, the comfort (COMFORTABLE, HOT from 30 C, COLD to 10
C,
HUMID from 70 %) and a forecast from the pressure (FAIR from 1015 hPa, STORM below 1000 hPa, CHANGE between). The RGB
LED
is green when comfortable, red when hot, blue when cold, amber when humid, and flashes white when a STORM is coming.
Press Run. The board joins TEP-WiFi and the OLED shows the readings. Click SUNNY, RAINY and STORM on the BME280's
pop-up.
On the phone click C / F, RESET (the highest and lowest temperature) and LED. The BOOT button (GPIO28) also changes C
/ F.
The supply: in the demo the modules' VCC is Proteus' power rail; on a real board they sit on the board's 3V3.
Closed a window? The USB-C ports of the board open the monitor, the PANEL pad the panel. The monitor (115200) prints
every
change and a status line every 10 s and takes STATUS and UNIT.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
0 / 1 GPIO0 / 1: SDA / SCL (Wire); GPIO1 is also A0
1 .. 6 A0 .. A5: analogRead 0 .. 4095 for 0 .. 3.3 V, GPIO, PWM, interrupt
6, 8, 9, 10 SS, MOSI, MISO, SCK (SPI)
TX / RX GPIO11 / 12: Serial (the board's monitor)
7, 13, 14, 23 .. 28 GPIO, PWM, interrupt
27 also the RGB LED (RGB_BUILTIN, rgbLedWrite)
28 also the BOOT button (BOOT_PIN, LOW when pressed)
3V3, 5V, G 3.3 V (the logic), 5 V, ground; RST resets the board; NC = no connection
Serial1 is not wired on this model.
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1 (TEP Proteus))
WIFISSID the router in range (default TEP-WiFi); WIFIPASS its password (default 12345678)
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on Serial; BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
TIME the clock for NTP: PC (the PC's clock) or YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS in UTC
The IP address follows the part's number: U1 192.168.1.101, U2 .102 ...
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing happens at Run: the HEX was not built with TEP Boards for Proteus - select ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1 (TEP Proteus)
and
export again.
* "BME280 NOT FOUND": SDA on GPIO0, SCL on GPIO1; SDO to ground gives the address 0x76, CSB on VCC selects I2C.
* The OLED stays dark: it shares SDA and SCL with the sensor; its address is 0x3C.
* The board stays off the network: the sketch's SSID / password differ from WIFISSID / WIFIPASS.
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits in the simulation - use long.
* The page shows old values: tap Reload (the monitors do not reload by themselves).
* A sketch's name clashes with the core: CHANGE, HIGH, LOW and FALLING are Arduino macros - do not use them as names.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1 Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
ESP32-C5 DevKitC-1 Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 235 files (3.6 MB, 8.1 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 235 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, 33139c555a44ccfb43482f32963a0b13f8a7b1e4e6477a787aed32bbdc802712. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "esp32-c5-devkitc-1-tep-v1-0-6d58ec4cc2644b3d955d98da8d67f1aa.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "esp32-c5-devkitc-1-tep-v1-0-6d58ec4cc2644b3d955d98da8d67f1aa.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
