WHAT IS IT?
10-segment LED bar graph arrays, drawn at true scale: 25.4 x 10.16 mm, 20 pins, a black face with
diffused bars.
* LEDBAR10TEP: ten bars of one colour - red, green, yellow or blue, by property.
* LEDBAR10MIXTEP: bars 1-5 green, 6-8 yellow, 9-10 red - a level meter.
* Every bar is a separate LED (anode on pin k, cathode on pin 21 - k) with its colour's forward
voltage. The bars light with the current the eye
averages, on a log scale, so a multiplexed array looks as bright as on the bench.
* The model reads what the array shows - a bar of n, a dot at n, or a pattern - times the
multiplexing and checks the ratings.
* Click one at Run for the pop-up: what it shows, every bar's current, graphs, an event log and a
check page.
The body is drawn as on the real part and to true scale against our Arduino.
The TEP signature and the pop-up are TEP additions.
TWO DEVICES (search "LEDBAR" in Pick Devices):
LEDBAR10TEP "LED Bar Graph 10 V1.0" in TEPLEDBAR.LIB (Optoelectronics > Bargraph Displays),
prefix BAR, model TEPLEDBAR.DLL.
LEDBAR10MIXTEP "LED Bar Graph 10 Mixed V1.0" in TEPLEDBAR.LIB, prefix BAR, model TEPLEDBAR.DLL.
Pins on both: A1 .. A10 = pins 1 .. 10 along the bottom (anodes); K1 .. K10 =
pins 20 .. 11 along the top (cathodes).
THE POP-UP
Click the part at Run. Tabs:
Bar graph the state (SHOWS a bar, a dot or a pattern with the refresh, OFF, OVER CURRENT,
REVERSE), the array drawn large with its lit bars,
every bar's average current, and eight live values.
Graphs the live values over the last 2, 6 or 15 s. Live / Freeze.
Event log every change and warning; filters All / Changes / Warnings, Pause, Clear
Check what the part is doing and what to look at, each with a verdict (green = fine, amber
= check, red = wrong)

TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 31 Oct 2026 (the demo project as shipped: an A4 sheet, an Arduino UNO V4.0).
What the runs showed (the model's own numbers and the sketch's monitor):
* The project loads and starts cleanly. The UNO multiplexes the two arrays on ten shared anode
lines, 2 ms each: both pop-ups measured a 249 Hz
refresh.
* With RV1 at 65 % and RV2 at 40 %, BAR1 showed a dot at 7 and BAR2 a bar of 4 - read back from
the bars by the pop-ups, and printed by the sketch.
* RV2 to 100 % and RV1 to 0 %: BAR2 showed a bar of 10 (5 green, 3 yellow, 2 red), BAR1 a dot at
1. All ten bars of BAR2 together took 26.5 mA at
the peak through their shared cathode pin, under the UNO's 40 mA.
* RV2 swept down: the log named every step, a bar of 9, 8, 7 ... 2.
* Through the 1k resistors: about 3 mA peak and 1.2 to 1.6 mA average in a bar, 5.0 V across a bar
that is off (its rating).
* The pop-up: Bar graph, Graphs, Event log, Check - all four pages followed the run, for both
arrays.
INSTALLATION (about 2 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" (TEPLEDBAR.LIB, TEPRESISTOR.LIB, TEPPOT.LIB and our
Arduino library V4.0, ArduinoV4TEP.LIB, with the ARDUINO UNO V4.0 used by the demo) to the LIBRARY
folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(use the folder that already holds Proteus's own .LIB files).
3. Copy TEPLEDBAR.DLL, TEPRESISTOR.DLL, TEPPOT.DLL and TEPARDUINO.DLL from "Proteus Model Files" to
the MODELS folder (...\Proteus 8 Professional\MODELS).
4. Delete TEPLEDBAR.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there (Proteus makes a new index).
5. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "LEDBAR".
RUN THE DEMO
"Proteus Simulation\LED-Bar-Graph-Meters-ArduinoUnoV4.pdsprj" (an A4 sheet) - keep the .hex file and
the DLLs beside the project.
ARD1: Arduino UNO V4.0 running Level_Meter_Demo.hex, its serial monitor built in (window "TEP
Arduino UNO - ARD1").
R1-R10: 1k resistors (ours) from D2 .. D11 to the anode lines L1 .. L10, shared by both arrays.
BAR1: the red array, its ten cathodes on A2 - a dot that follows RV1 (A0).
BAR2: the green-yellow-red array, its cathodes on A3 - a bar that follows RV2 (A1).
RV1, RV2: our 9 mm potentiometers, dividers from +5 V.
1. Press Run. Both arrays light at once; their pop-ups show the 249 Hz refresh.
2. Turn RV1 or RV2 (open its pop-up: the chips, or Sweep): the dot moves, the bar grows and
shrinks.
Closed the monitor? Click the UNO's USB port.
WIRING (the same in Proteus and on a real board)
pin - resistor - anode k ; cathode k - GND (or a pin set LOW) : one resistor per bar
two arrays on ten lines : their cathodes take turns (multiplexing); a cathode pin carries up to
ten bars
REAL HARDWARE:
* Every bar is its own LED: give each anode line its own resistor.
* Ten lit bars through one cathode pin add up: keep it under the pin's limit, or use a transistor.
* Multiplex fast: over 60 times a second, or the bars flicker.
* The pins are in two rows 7.62 mm apart, like a DIP-20: it fits a breadboard across the centre
channel.
THE DEMO SKETCH ON THE SERIAL MONITOR (Level_Meter_Demo V1.0, 9600 baud)
There are no commands. Turn the knobs; the sketch prints the dot and the bar when they change, at
most four times a second.
EXPECTED MONITOR OUTPUT
Level meters - The Engineering Projects
Turn RV1 for the dot, RV2 for the bar
RV1: dot at 7 | RV2: bar of 4
PROPERTIES (double-click the part > Edit Properties)
Colour (LEDBAR10TEP) RED, GREEN, YELLOW or BLUE (Vf 2.0, 2.2, 2.1, 3.2 V at 20 mA)
The mixed array: bars 1-5 green (2.2 V), 6-8 yellow (2.1 V), 9-10 red (2.0 V)
Every run starts again from the properties.
LINKS.INI (OPTIONAL)
The Help page cards of the pop-up open web pages. To point them somewhere else without a new DLL,
put a text file named links.ini next to TEPLEDBAR.DLL with lines KEY=URL, for example:
ARTICLE=https://www.theengineeringprojects.com/...
Keys: WEBSITE, FORUM, BUG_REPORT, FEATURE_REQUEST, ARTICLE, USER_GUIDE,
UPDATE_CHECK, DONATE. Only http:// and https:// links are used; lines starting
with # are comments.
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing lights: the anodes and cathodes are swapped (anodes are the bottom row, pins 1 .. 10).
* Bars light in the wrong order: bar 1 is pin 1 / pin 20, at the left.
* The bars flicker: the refresh is under 60 Hz; shorten the slots.
* The Check page warns about all the bars: ten lit bars through one cathode pin; use larger
resistors or a transistor.
* The part is not simulated: TEPLEDBAR.DLL is missing from MODELS and from the project folder. No
UNO / no monitor window: TEPARDUINO.DLL is missing, or click the UNO's USB port.

LICENCES AND THIRD-PARTY NOTES
* The model (TEPLEDBAR.DLL), the symbols and artwork, the other parts of ours in the demo and the
Arduino Library V4.0 (ArduinoV4TEP.LIB / TEPARDUINO.DLL, with its built-in TEP Serial Monitor
Advance) are made by The Engineering Projects. The models use only standard Windows libraries; no
Visual C++ redistributable is needed.
The C++ source code is not included.
* Arduino UNO V4.0 (ArduinoV4TEP.LIB / TEPARDUINO.DLL, our Arduino Library V4.0 - its
microcontroller is Proteus's own AVR model): The Engineering Projects,
https://www.theengineeringprojects.com/2026/10/arduino-uno-library-for-proteus-v40.html
* The .hex file is built from the demo sketch and the Arduino AVR core 1.8.6, which includes
LGPL-licensed code; its source code is available at
https://github.com/arduino/ArduinoCore-avr/tree/1.8.6
* Proteus is a product of Labcenter Electronics and is not included. Arduino is a trademark of Arduino SA.
This library is not made or endorsed by Arduino or Labcenter.
REBUILDING THE FIRMWARE (OPTIONAL)
The HEX file is supplied; Arduino IDE is not needed to run the demo. To edit the sketch, open
Arduino Code\Level_Meter_Demo\Level_Meter_Demo.ino, select Arduino Uno and use Sketch > Export
Compiled Binary. Replace the simulation's .hex with the exported HEX. The sketch needs 3,968 bytes
of flash and 230 bytes of RAM.
MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS
Modelled: every bar's LED junction with its colour's forward voltage, the eye's average and its log
response, what the array shows, the refresh
and its share of the time, the bar, total and reverse ratings.
Not modelled: the light's colour shift with current, the junction's heating.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download LED Bar Graph Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
LED Bar Graph Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 16 files (1.8 MB, 4.3 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch and compiled HEX firmware. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 16 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, d25de9a3fc12b0bbc8e87b32ff877164c68e3dda1c1f2fd87e0fb89c17224a96. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "led-bar-graph-tep-v1-0-59da9cfa63894e118fde5c270f51617e.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "led-bar-graph-tep-v1-0-59da9cfa63894e118fde5c270f51617e.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
