Total: 4.13 MB (unzipped). The C++ source code of the models is not included.

WHAT IS IT?
Slide potentiometers (faders), drawn at true scale and seen from the top: the metal housing, the
slot and a black knob with a white line.
  * 60 mm travel (Bourns PTA6043 style): 75 x 9 mm, 0.25 W. 20 mm travel (Bourns PTA2043 style): 35
    x 9 mm, 0.1 W.
  * The pins as on the real part: the wiper (2) at one end, 1 and 3 together at the other. The left
end is 0 %: the wiper at pin 1.
  * Type the value with its taper: B10K (linear) or A10K (audio).
  * At Run, click the housing where the knob should be. It stays there after Stop.
  * Used as a variable resistor, only part of the track carries the current and may take only that
part of the rating. Too much burns it open.
  * The small dot opens the pop-up: the fader with its scale, the track with both halves, the taper
curves, eight live values, graphs, an event
    log and a check page.
The body is drawn as on the real part and to true scale against our Arduino.
The TEP signature and the pop-up are TEP additions.

TWO DEVICES (search "SLIDEPOT" in Pick Devices):
SLIDEPOT60TEP "Slide Pot 60 mm V1.0" in TEPSLIDEPOT.LIB (Resistors > Variable), prefix RV, model
  TEPSLIDEPOT.DLL. Pins W (2), 1, 3.
SLIDEPOT20TEP "Slide Pot 20 mm V1.0" in TEPSLIDEPOT.LIB (Resistors > Variable), prefix RV, model
  TEPSLIDEPOT.DLL. Pins W (2), 1, 3.

THE POP-UP
Click the small dot on the part at Run (a click on the housing moves the knob). Tabs:
Slider the use (VOLTAGE DIVIDER, VARIABLE RESISTOR, OVERLOAD, BURNT), the fader on its
scale, the track from pin 1 to pin 3 with the
               wiper, the taper curves, and eight live values. The toolbar: -10 %, -1 %, +1 %, +10
               %, 0 %, 50 %, 100 %, Sweep, New part.
Graphs the live values over the last 2, 6 or 15 s. Live / Freeze.
Event log every change and warning; filters All / Changes / Warnings, Pause, Clear
Check what the part is doing and what to look at, each with a verdict (green = fine, amber
    = check, red = wrong)

TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 31 Oct 2026 (the demo project as shipped: an A4 sheet, an Arduino UNO V4.0).
What the runs showed (the model's own numbers and the sketch's monitor):
  * The project loads and starts cleanly; the faders start where Knob while stopped puts them: red
    100 %, green 50 %, blue 0 %, the master 100 %.
  * At the start the RGB LED glowed orange: the monitor printed R 254, G 127, B 0, colour #FE7F00
    (254, not 255: the track's end resistance).
  * Blue to 100 % and green to 0 % with the pop-up's chips: magenta, #FE00FE. The master at 50 %
kept the colour and halved it: #7F007F.
  * The Sweep ran the green fader end to end; the colour went from magenta towards white and back,
and the Graphs page followed it.
  * Real (guarded) mouse clicks: a click a quarter of the way along the blue fader's housing set it
    to 25 % (1.26 V on the wiper); a click on its
small dot opened the pop-up and left the knob where it was.
  * The pop-up: Slider, Graphs, Event log, Check - all four pages followed the run.

INSTALLATION (about 2 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" (TEPSLIDEPOT.LIB, TEPRGB.LIB, TEPRESISTOR.LIB and our
Arduino library V4.0, ArduinoV4TEP.LIB, with the ARDUINO UNO V4.0 used by the demo) to the LIBRARY
folder of Proteus, for example:
     C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(use the folder that already holds Proteus's own .LIB files).
3. Copy TEPSLIDEPOT.DLL, TEPRGB.DLL, TEPRESISTOR.DLL and TEPARDUINO.DLL from "Proteus Model Files"
to the MODELS folder (...\Proteus 8 Professional\MODELS).
4. Delete TEPSLIDEPOT.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there (Proteus makes a new index).
5. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "SLIDEPOT".

RUN THE DEMO
"Proteus Simulation\Slide-Pot-Lighting-Desk-ArduinoUnoV4.pdsprj" (an A4 sheet) - keep the .hex file
and the DLLs beside the project.
ARD1: Arduino UNO V4.0 running Fader_Mixer_Demo.hex, its serial monitor built in (window "TEP
  Arduino UNO - ARD1").
  RV1 .. RV3: 60 mm faders, B10K (red 100 %, green 50 %, blue 0 %): pin 1 GND, pin 3 +5V, the wipers
  to A0, A1, A2.
  RV4: a 20 mm fader, B10K, 100 %: the master, the wiper to A3.
  D1, R1 .. R3: our common cathode RGB LED; D9 - 150 ohm - R, D10 - 100 ohm - G, D11 - 100 ohm - B;
  the cathode to GND.
  1. Press Run. The LED glows orange; the monitor prints the three levels, the master and the colour
  as a hex code.
  2. Slide the faders: click a housing, or its dot and the chips. The master dims the colour without
  changing it.
Closed the monitor? Click the UNO's USB port.

WIRING (the same in Proteus and on a real board)
  pin 1 - GND ; pin 3 - +5V ; wiper - analog input : a voltage divider, the knob sets the voltage
  pin 1 - the circuit ; wiper - the circuit ; pin 3 free : a variable resistor (a rheostat)
REAL HARDWARE:
 * On the real part the wiper (2) is at one end and pins 1 and 3 are together at the other end:
check the drawing before you lay out a board.
 * Use B (linear) faders for an Arduino input; mixing desks use A (audio) for volume.
 * The track's residual resistance keeps the ends a little off 0 V and 5 V: the demo reads 254, not
   255.
 * A slide pot is made for about 15,000 strokes; keep dust out of the slot.

THE DEMO SKETCH ON THE SERIAL MONITOR (Fader_Mixer_Demo V1.0, 9600 baud)
There are no commands. The sketch multiplies each fader by the master and prints a line when the
colour changes, at most twice a second.
EXPECTED MONITOR OUTPUT
Slide pot lighting desk - The Engineering Projects
  R 254 G 127 B 0 master 99 % colour #FE7F00

PROPERTIES (double-click the part > Edit Properties)
Resistance and taper (VALUE) B10K (B linear, A audio)
Power rating, W 0.25 (60 mm) or 0.1 (20 mm), for the whole track
  Knob while stopped 0 % .. 100 % by 5 %: where the knob starts
Every run starts again from the properties.

LINKS.INI (OPTIONAL)
The Help page cards of the pop-up open web pages. To point them somewhere else without a new DLL,
put a text file named links.ini next to TEPSLIDEPOT.DLL with lines KEY=URL, for example:
  ARTICLE=https://www.theengineeringprojects.com/...
Keys: WEBSITE, FORUM, BUG_REPORT, FEATURE_REQUEST, ARTICLE, USER_GUIDE,
UPDATE_CHECK, DONATE. Only http:// and https:// links are used; lines starting
with # are comments.

TROUBLESHOOTING
* A click does nothing: the simulation is not running, or the click landed on the small dot, which
  opens the pop-up.
* The voltage goes the wrong way: pins 1 and 3 are swapped.
* The colour never reaches full: the master fader is down.
* The track burnt: it was a variable resistor with too much current. Click New part, and add a
  series resistor.
* The part is not simulated: TEPSLIDEPOT.DLL is missing from MODELS and from the project folder. No
UNO / no monitor window: TEPARDUINO.DLL is missing, or click the UNO's USB port.

LICENCES AND THIRD-PARTY NOTES
* The model (TEPSLIDEPOT.DLL), the symbols and artwork, the other parts of ours in the demo and the
  Arduino Library V4.0 (ArduinoV4TEP.LIB / TEPARDUINO.DLL, with its built-in TEP Serial Monitor
Advance) are made by The Engineering Projects. The models use only standard Windows libraries; no
  Visual C++ redistributable is needed.
The C++ source code is not included.
* Arduino UNO V4.0 (ArduinoV4TEP.LIB / TEPARDUINO.DLL, our Arduino Library V4.0 - its
microcontroller is Proteus's own AVR model): The Engineering Projects,
  https://www.theengineeringprojects.com/2026/10/arduino-uno-library-for-proteus-v40.html
* The .hex file is built from the demo sketch and the Arduino AVR core 1.8.6, which includes
LGPL-licensed code; its source code is available at
  https://github.com/arduino/ArduinoCore-avr/tree/1.8.6
* Proteus is a product of Labcenter Electronics and is not included. Arduino is a trademark of Arduino SA.
This library is not made or endorsed by Arduino or Labcenter.

REBUILDING THE FIRMWARE (OPTIONAL)
The HEX file is supplied; Arduino IDE is not needed to run the demo. To edit the sketch, open
Arduino Code\Fader_Mixer_Demo\Fader_Mixer_Demo.ino, select Arduino Uno and use Sketch > Export
Compiled Binary. Replace the simulation's .hex with the exported HEX. The sketch needs 5,354 bytes
of flash and 272 bytes of RAM.

MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS
Modelled: the track and wiper, the two tapers, the end resistance, the derated power of a part of
the track, the heating and the burn-out.
Not modelled: the tolerance spread (about 20 %), sliding noise, the detent option, dual-gang parts.

    Extract the archive

Right-click slide-potentiometer-tep-v1-0-d410ec30a3134407846c78d5fb64b054.zip and choose Extract All (or open it with 7-Zip or WinRAR) into a folder you can find again. Keep its folder structure (Slide-Potentiometer-TEP-v1.0) as it is.

  2. 2

Copy the library files into Proteus

Move ArduinoV4TEP.LIB, TEPRESISTOR.LIB and TEPRGB.LIB and 1 more and the files into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY for Proteus 8, or the matching Proteus 7 folder. Older versions keep it under ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics. If Proteus is open, close it first.

  3. 3

    Add the simulation model

Copy TEPARDUINO.DLL, TEPRESISTOR.DLL and TEPRGB.DLL and 1 more into the MODELS folder next to LIBRARY, so the component can run, not only be drawn.

  4. 4

Restart Proteus and place the component

Start Proteus, open a schematic, press P (Pick Devices) and search for the component by the name used in the tutorial. It appears with its pins ready to wire.

  5. 5

Open the sketch in the Arduino IDE

Open Fader_Mixer_Demo.ino, select your board and port under Tools, then Verify. Sketch → Export Compiled Binary writes the HEX file a simulation needs.

  6. 6

  8. 8

    Follow the tutorial

Slide Potentiometer Library for Proteus: 60 mm and 20 mm Faders explains every connection and setting in order; keep it open beside the files while you build.

How to add a library in Proteus 8

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP

How do I download Slide Potentiometer Library for Proteus V1.0?

Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.

What is inside the archive?

Slide Potentiometer Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 16 files (1.8 MB, 4.1 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch and compiled HEX firmware. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 16 files.

What should I do if the download does not start?

Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.

Is this file free?

Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.

How do I check that the file arrived complete?

Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, f92d7dbaacc0548e4174a34bb4c7a77374ef1e3af0a05529d8939cd084052a50. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "slide-potentiometer-tep-v1-0-d410ec30a3134407846c78d5fb64b054.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "slide-potentiometer-tep-v1-0-d410ec30a3134407846c78d5fb64b054.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.

Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?

No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.

Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?

Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.

Which Proteus version does the library need?

The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.

How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?

Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
