WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no ESP32 processor model, so this is NOT a real ESP32 chip. Our team has put a lot of effort into building
this board ourselves: it is DFRobot's FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E - the black low-power board with the ESP32-WROOM-32E
module, its
PCB antenna, USB-C, the PH2.0 battery connector, the GDI display connector, the RST and user buttons, the user LED and
the
WS2812 RGB LED - that runs YOUR ESP32 Arduino sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal FireBeetle sketch (D2 .. D13, A0 .. A4, analogRead 0-4095, analogWrite, ledcWrite,
attachInterrupt,
Wire, SPI, Serial, Serial2, rgbLedWrite on the RGB LED, WiFi, WebServer, HTTPClient, ESPmDNS, configTime ...) and
compile
it in the Arduino IDE with our board package "TEP Boards for Proteus" 1.45.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* The board model (TEPNET.DLL) runs the compiled sketch: the pins with their numbers and names, RST, the user button
on
GPIO27, the user LED on GPIO2, the WS2812 on GPIO5, the built-in serial monitor and the Wi-Fi radio.
* Wi-Fi: a virtual router (TEP-WiFi, password 12345678 - the WIFISSID / WIFIPASS properties) with DHCP (192.168.1.101
for U1), a scan list, RSSI, mDNS names, NTP time, TCP and UDP between all the TEP Wi-Fi parts in the design.
The board is drawn at its real proportions, seen from above and turned so the USB-C port is on the left: RST and the
user
button next to it, the charging and user LEDs, the battery connector, the RGB LED, the GDI socket and the module on the
right (top row: VCC 3V3 GND SCL SDA 15 35 34 39 36 12 4 16 17; bottom row: RST 3V3 NC GND EN 18 23 19 22 21 2 13 14 0 26
25 1 3). The top row's SCL and SDA are drawn only: use 22 and 21 on the bottom row, they are the same nets.
TEP additions: the PCB antenna's colours (gold not joined, green on Wi-Fi, orange sending, cyan receiving), the PANEL
pad
(or the module) opens the board's panel, the USB-C port opens the serial monitor; the CHG LED simply lights with the
power.
Limits (say them before you start): your sketch gets 8 KB of RAM in the simulation (the real board: 520 KB), about 256
KB
of flash, int is 16 bits in the simulation (use long / int32_t for big numbers), no FreeRTOS tasks, no second core, no
Bluetooth, no ESP-IDF, no real TLS, no soft AP, no sleep modes. See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "FIREBEETLE" in Pick Devices):
FIREBEETLE 2 ESP32-E "FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > ESP32 Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL.
The panel
(a TEP pop-up window; the PANEL pad opens it): Wi-Fi (a phone: OPEN ESP32 PAGE, the router's list), Pins (every pin
live),
Test, Settings, Help. The serial monitor (115200 baud) has Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs (the Board tab: the LED,
RST,
the user button, every pin). Like every TEP window it has no Windows title bar. One FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E per design.
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other Wi-Fi boards and the Laptop / Mobile WiFi Monitors; it replaces any older
TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 30 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* FireBeetle-2-ESP32-E-Night-Lamp: the monitor printed "Connecting to TEP-WiFi", "Lamp page: http://192.168.1.101/" and
"Dark 529 lamp 0 % AUTO WARM" in an indoor light of 300 lux; the RGB LED green, the user LED blinking, the antenna
green on Wi-Fi.
* The laptop (192.168.1.21) opened http://192.168.1.101/json and the phone (192.168.1.41) http://192.168.1.101/ (HTTP
200).
* Dim room on the LDR's window: "Lamp 58 %", "Dark 2190 lamp 49 % AUTO WARM". Night: "Lamp 100 %", the ring full
and warm, "Dark 3888 lamp 100 % AUTO WARM".
* On the phone: COLOUR "Colour COOL (the web page)" and "Colour RED (the web page)"; MODE "Mode ON (the web page)" (the
lamp stays full in sunlight, the RGB LED white); OFF "Mode OFF (the web page)" (the ring and the RGB LED dark); MODE
"Mode AUTO (the web page)".
* About 45 s of simulation, no errors, with the pop-ups, the panel, the monitor and both tools open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPFIREBEETLE2.LIB is the
board; the
others are the demo's parts: TEPLDR.LIB, TEPWS2812.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPLDR.DLL, TEPWS2812.DLL) to the MODELS folder (...\Proteus 8
Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E).
4. Delete TEPFIREBEETLE2.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards Manager
once). Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E (TEP Proteus). The demo also needs Adafruit
NeoPixel (Library Manager).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "FIREBEETLE".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
FireBeetle-2-ESP32-E-Night-Lamp.pdsprj - U1 the FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E (FireBeetle2_Night_Lamp.hex) is a night lamp that
follows the room: U2 = the LDR light module on A0 (GPIO36) and NEO1 = the 12-LED WS2812B ring on D2 (GPIO25). PC1 the
Laptop
WiFi Monitor opens http://192.168.1.101/json, MOB1 the Mobile WiFi Monitor the page http://192.168.1.101/. The LDR and
the
ring are the Advance versions: they open their pop-up windows at Run.
The darker the room, the brighter the lamp: nothing at a reading of 800, full at 3600. There are three modes: AUTO, ON
and
OFF, and three colours: WARM, COOL and RED. The board's RGB LED shows the mode: green AUTO, white ON, dark OFF. The
user LED
(D9, GPIO2) blinks with every reading. The user button (GPIO27) changes the mode.
Press Run. The board joins TEP-WiFi. Click Dim room and Night on the LDR's window, then MODE, COLOUR and OFF on the
phone.
The supply: the LDR sits on the board's 3V3, so that A0 stays under 3.3 V; the ring's 5V is Proteus' power rail.
Closed a window? The USB-C port of the board opens the monitor, the PANEL pad the panel. The monitor (115200) prints
every
change and a status line every 10 s and takes STATUS, MODE and COLOUR.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
21 / 22 SDA / SCL (Wire)
18, 19, 23 SCK, MISO, MOSI (SPI)
1 / 3 TX / RX: Serial (the board's monitor)
17 / 16 D10 / D11: TX2 / RX2 (Serial2)
36, 39, 34, 35 A0 .. A3: input only, analogRead 0 .. 4095 for 0 .. 3.3 V
15 A4: analogRead, GPIO, PWM, interrupt
25, 26, 0, 14, 13, 2, 4, 12 D2, D3, D5, D6, D7, D9, D12, D13: GPIO, PWM, interrupt
2 also the user LED (LED_BUILTIN)
VCC, 3V3, GND 5 V, 3.3 V, ground; RST and EN reset the board; NC = no connection
On the board: the WS2812 = RGB_BUILTIN on GPIO5 (D8, rgbLedWrite), the user button = USER_BUTTON on GPIO27 (D4).
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E (TEP Proteus))
WIFISSID the router in range (default TEP-WiFi); WIFIPASS its password (default 12345678)
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on Serial; BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
TIME the clock for NTP: PC (the PC's clock) or YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS in UTC
The IP address follows the part's number: U1 192.168.1.101, U2 .102 ...
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing happens at Run: the HEX was not built with TEP Boards for Proteus - select FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E (TEP
Proteus) and
export again.
* The reading stays at 4095: the LDR's VCC is on 5 V - use 3V3, or A0 goes over the 3.3 V limit.
* The ring stays dark: DIN on D2, 5V and GND wired, and the mode is not OFF.
* The board stays off the network: the sketch's SSID / password differ from WIFISSID / WIFIPASS.
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits in the simulation - use long.
* The page shows old values: tap Reload (the monitors do not reload by themselves).

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download DFRobot FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
DFRobot FireBeetle 2 ESP32-E Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 237 files (3.9 MB, 9.8 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 237 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, 9b9bb517a00e57642258ba7267fcfbe43075cf920448dbdd5eb8b15cd92f678b. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "dfrobot-firebeetle-2-esp32-e-tep-v1-0-c58d0399cdd243909941d0405841133e.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "dfrobot-firebeetle-2-esp32-e-tep-v1-0-c58d0399cdd243909941d0405841133e.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
