Arduino Nano Library for Proteus

Classic Arduino Nano component in Proteus, Arduino Nano library, ATmega328P simulation, Proteus tutorial

Hello friends! In this tutorial, we will install the Arduino Nano Library for Proteus, load a compiled Arduino program and run an LED-blinking simulation. We will follow the same sequence you would use for a larger project: identify the board, install its model, check the basic circuit and then add your application. The Nano is useful when an Arduino UNO would take too much space. In the project described in the original article, I used a Nano with an inertial measurement unit on a cricket bat. The smaller board helped keep the electronics compact. That example illustrates the reason for choosing the Nano: board size and connections matter alongside the processor's capabilities. This page explains the original V1.0 Proteus library and retains its download and screenshots. Newer library ver ...

How to Reset Arduino Programmatically

Historical Arduino D4 to RESET wiring discussed in the tutorial, Arduino Uno, reset behavior, watchdog tutorial

Hello friends! Today we will learn how to restart an Arduino program deliberately and, more importantly, distinguish a real microcontroller reset from simply starting our application logic again. These operations can look similar on the Serial Monitor while leaving the hardware in different states. For the main example, we will use a classic Arduino Uno with an ATmega328P and its watchdog timer. We will also revisit the two approaches in the original tutorial: connecting an output pin to RESET and calling a function pointer at address zero. Both need important qualifications before they are used in a project. The original wiring image is retained below for reference, but the recommended example does not need that jumper. Remove any output-to-RESET connection before following the watchdog p ...
