WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no ESP32 or SIM800L processor model, so this is NOT a real ESP32 chip. Our team has put a lot of effort
into
building this board ourselves: it is LilyGO's T-Call - the black board with the ESP32-WROVER-B module, a SIM800L 2G
modem,
USB-C, the reset button, the blue user LED and the red network LED - that runs YOUR ESP32 Arduino sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal T-Call sketch (the GPIO numbers of the board, analogRead 0-4095, analogWrite, ledcWrite,
attachInterrupt, Wire, SPI, Serial, Serial1 to the modem, WiFi, WebServer, HTTPClient ...) and compile it in the
Arduino
IDE with our board package "TEP Boards for Proteus" 1.46.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* The SIM800L is ON the board: GPIO27 goes to its RXD, GPIO26 comes from its TXD (Serial1), GPIO23 is its power
switch and
GPIO5 its RST. It answers real AT commands: AT, ATE, AT+CMGF, AT+CNMI, AT+CLIP, AT+CREG?, AT+CSQ, AT+CMGS, ATH,
ATA ...
* A phone window plays the other end: it texts the board, gets its SMS, calls it and sees the network. Click the
SIM800L.
The board is seen from above and turned so the USB-C port is on the left and the WROVER module on the right (top row:
SPK-
SPK+ 5V CMD SD3 SD2 13 GND 12 14 27 26 25 33 32 35 34 SVN SVP NC 3V3; bottom row: MIC+ MIC- CLK SD0 SD1 15 2 0 4 NC NC
5 18 19
GND 21 RXD TXD 22 23 GND). The speaker, microphone, flash and NC pads are drawn only. It is shorter than the real
board so
it stays under the size of the UNO.
TEP additions: the PCB antenna's colours, the PANEL pad (or the WROVER module) opens the board's panel, the USB-C port
opens
the serial monitor, a click on the SIM800L opens the phone.
Limits (say them before you start): your sketch gets 8 KB of RAM in the simulation (the real board: 520 KB plus
PSRAM), about
256 KB of flash, int is 16 bits in the simulation (use long / int32_t for big numbers), no FreeRTOS tasks, no second
core, no
Bluetooth, no ESP-IDF, no real TLS, no soft AP. The modem does SMS and calls: GPRS data (AT+CIPSTART, TinyGSM's
gprsConnect, MQTT) is NOT modelled. See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "T-CALL" in Pick Devices):
T-CALL SIM800L "LilyGO T-Call SIM800L" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > ESP32 Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL. Three
TEP
windows, none with a Windows title bar: the phone (a click on the SIM800L), the panel (the PANEL pad: Wi-Fi, Pins,
Test,
Settings, Help) and the serial monitor (the USB-C port, 115200 baud: Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs).
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other Wi-Fi boards; it replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in
MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 30 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* T-Call-SMS-Irrigation: the monitor printed "Starting the SIM800L", "On the network" and "SMS to +15555550191:
Irrigation
controller online"; the phone window showed REGISTERED - TEP MOBILE, 9600 bps (auto-baud, locked) and the message.
* DRY on the sensor's window: ">> Soil dry: pump ON", the relay on, the blue LED on, the SMS "Soil dry: Soil 22 %,
pump ON
(auto)". WET: ">> Soil wet: pump OFF" and its SMS.
* From the phone: STATUS, ON, OFF and HELLO, each answered by SMS; CALL: "Missed call from +15555550191", the call
rejected,
the status by SMS.
* about 70 s of simulation, no errors, with the pop-ups, the panel and the monitor open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPTCALL.LIB is the board; the
others
are the demo's parts: TEPCAPSOIL.LIB and TEPRELAY.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPCAPSOIL.DLL, TEPRELAY.DLL) to the MODELS folder
(...\Proteus 8
Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the T-Call).
4. Delete TEPTCALL.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards
Manager once).
Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > T-Call SIM800L (TEP Proteus).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "T-CALL".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
T-Call-SMS-Irrigation.pdsprj - U1 the T-Call (TCall_SMS_Irrigation.hex) is a pump controller for a field with only a 2G
signal: U2 = the capacitive soil moisture sensor on GPIO34 and RLY1 = the relay on GPIO25, the pump (active LOW). Both
are the
Advance versions: they open their pop-up windows at Run.
The sketch powers the SIM800L with GPIO23, sets it up with AT commands at 9600 baud (the module finds the speed from the
first AT), waits for +CREG and texts "Irrigation controller online". It reads the soil every 2 s, on a scale of 0 % (the
probe in air) to 100 % (in water). Below 40 % the pump starts, above 60 % it stops, with an SMS each time. The blue LED
(GPIO13) shows the pump.
Press Run and wait for the phone to show REGISTERED. Click DRY, then WET on the sensor's window. On the phone click
STATUS,
ON, OFF, HELLO and CALL. ON and OFF are manual: the automatic control stops until the next reset. A CALL is a missed
call: the
board hangs up, which costs the caller nothing, and answers by SMS.
Closed a window? The USB-C port of the board opens the monitor, the PANEL pad the panel, the SIM800L the phone.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
27 / 26 MODEM_TX / MODEM_RX: Serial1, to the SIM800L
23, 5, 4 MODEM_POWER_ON, MODEM_RST, MODEM_PWKEY (these three also carry MOSI and SS on the header: the modem
owns them)
21 / 22 SDA / SCL (Wire)
18, 19 SCK, MISO (SPI)
TXD / RXD GPIO1 / 3: Serial (the board's monitor)
13 the blue user LED (LED_BUILTIN), GPIO
0, 2, 12, 14, 15, 25, 32, 33 GPIO, PWM, interrupt
34, 35, SVN, SVP GPIO34, 35, 39, 36: input only, analogRead 0 .. 4095 for 0 .. 3.3 V
3V3, 5V, GND 3.3 V (the logic), 5 V, ground
GPIO4 (PWRKEY) is not needed in the simulation: GPIO23 powers the module.
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with T-Call SIM800L (TEP Proteus))
SIMNUM the SIM card's number (+15555550101); PHONENUM the phone's number (+15555550191)
OPERATOR the network's name (TEP MOBILE); GSMCLOCK the module's clock (PC or YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS)
WIFISSID the router in range (default TEP-WiFi); WIFIPASS its password (default 12345678)
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on Serial; BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
The phone's NETWORK keys set the signal during the run: GOOD, WEAK or NO SIGNAL.
TROUBLESHOOTING
* The phone says NO POWER: the sketch must set GPIO23 HIGH (MODEM_POWER_ON).
* The module never answers: send "AT" first (it auto-bauds), and Serial1.begin(9600, SERIAL_8N1, MODEM_RX, MODEM_TX).
* AT+CMGS fails: wait for +CREG: 0,1, the module needs a few seconds to register.
* No SMS reaches the sketch: AT+CMGF=1 and AT+CNMI=2,2,0,0,0 in setup().
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits in the simulation - use long.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download LilyGO T-Call SIM800L Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
LilyGO T-Call SIM800L Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 236 files (3.7 MB, 8.4 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 236 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, 8a71c15853f29de95f55634c0eedd1f9b3bd8363858ab4683b856d084e73158d. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "lilygo-t-call-sim800l-tep-v1-0-7569b78e16b64595891b714a529f02d1.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "lilygo-t-call-sim800l-tep-v1-0-7569b78e16b64595891b714a529f02d1.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
