WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no ESP32 processor model, so this is NOT a real ESP32 chip. Our team has put a lot of effort into
building this board
ourselves: it is the ESP32-2432S028, the popular "Cheap Yellow Display" - the yellow board with an ESP32-WROOM-32, a
2.8" 240 x 320
ILI9341 colour display and an XPT2046 resistive touch film - that runs YOUR ESP32 Arduino sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal sketch (the GPIO numbers of the product, analogRead 0-4095, analogWrite, ledcWrite,
attachInterrupt, tone,
Wire, SPI, Serial, WiFi, WebServer, HTTPClient ...) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our board package "TEP
Boards for
Proteus" 1.50.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* The display is ON the part: Adafruit_ILI9341 tft(TFT_CS, TFT_DC) with tft.begin() and tft.setRotation(1) stands
upright.
* The touch film is real: click the glass with the mouse and the sketch reads the place from the XPT2046 on its own
pins.
* The RGB LED on 4, 16 and 17 (lit when LOW) and the BOOT and RST keys work on the part.
The sockets: CN1 GND IO22 IO27 3V3; P3 GND IO35 IO22 IO21; P1 VIN TX RX GND. On P3 IO22 and IO21 are drawn only: IO22
is the same pin as
on CN1, and IO21 is the display's backlight. On the real board the RGB LED and the two keys sit on the back; we drew
them beside the
display so that you can see and press them. It is drawn a little smaller than the real board.
TEP additions: the PANEL pad opens the board's panel, the micro-USB port opens the serial monitor.
Limits (say them before you start): your sketch gets 8 KB of RAM in the simulation (the real one: 520 KB), about 256
KB of flash, int is
16 bits in the simulation (use long / int32_t for big numbers), no FreeRTOS tasks, no second core, no Bluetooth, no
ESP-IDF, no real TLS,
no soft AP. The TF card, the speaker's sound and the LDR's light are NOT modelled, and LVGL does not fit in 8 KB of RAM.
See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "2432" in Pick Devices):
ESP32-2432S028 "ESP32-2432S028 CYD" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > ESP32 Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL. Two TEP
windows, none with
a Windows title bar: the panel (the PANEL pad: Wi-Fi, Pins, Test, Settings, Help) and the serial monitor (the
micro-USB port, 115200 baud:
Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs).
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other Wi-Fi boards; it replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in
MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 31 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* ESP32-2432S028-Touch-Thermostat: the monitor printed "Wi-Fi: http://192.168.1.101/" and a status line every 10 s;
the display showed the room's temperature, the set temperature and three touch buttons.
* At 19 C with 22 C set: ">> Heater ON", the relay on, the RGB LED red. +5 on the DHT22's window: 24 C, ">> Heater
OFF", the LED green.
* The [+] button on the glass three times: ">> Set temperature 25.0 C", ">> Heater ON". The phone's DOWN link twice:
">> Set temperature 23.0 C", ">> Heater OFF". The ON/OFF button: ">> Thermostat OFF", the LED blue, then ">>
Thermostat ON".
* A real mouse click on the glass: "Touch at" with the place clicked.
* about 100 s of simulation, no errors, with the pop-ups, the panel and the monitor open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPCYD2432.LIB is the board;
the others
are the demo's parts: TEPDHT.LIB, TEPRELAY.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPDHT.DLL, TEPRELAY.DLL) to the MODELS folder (...\Proteus 8
Professional\MODELS) -
replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the ESP32-2432S028).
4. Delete TEPCYD2432.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards
Manager once).
Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > ESP32-2432S028 Cheap Yellow Display (TEP Proteus). From the Library
Manager: Adafruit ILI9341,
Adafruit GFX, Adafruit BusIO, DHT sensor library, Adafruit Unified Sensor.
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "2432".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
ESP32-2432S028-Touch-Thermostat.pdsprj - U1 the ESP32-2432S028 (CYD_Touch_Thermostat.hex) is a wall thermostat: DHT1 =
a DHT22 (Advance) on
IO27, RLY1 = the heater's relay (Advance) on IO22, MOB1 = the Mobile WiFi Monitor on its page.
Press Run. The screen shows the room's temperature, the set temperature and three buttons. Below the set temperature
the relay closes and the
RGB LED turns red. Click +5 on the DHT22's window: the room warms up, the heater stops and the LED turns green. Click
the [+] and [-] buttons
on the glass with the mouse. On the phone click ESP32 U1 for the page; its UP and DOWN links do the same. The ON/OFF
button stops the
thermostat and turns the LED blue.
Closed a window? The micro-USB port opens the monitor, the PANEL pad the panel.
THE PINS (the label on the part, what it can do in the simulation)
IO27, IO22 CN1: GPIO, PWM, interrupt; Wire SDA / SCL by default
IO35 P3: input only, analogRead
TX, RX P1: Serial (the board's monitor)
3V3, VIN, GND 3.3 V (the logic), 5 V, ground
Inside, not on the sockets: the display (MOSI 13, MISO 12, SCK 14, CS 15, DC 2, backlight 21), the touch (CLK 25, DIN
32, CS 33, IRQ 36,
DOUT 39), the RGB LED (4 red, 16 green, 17 blue, lit when LOW), the LDR 34, the speaker 26, BOOT 0. The names in
sketches: TFT_MOSI ... TFT_BL,
XPT2046_CLK, XPT2046_MOSI, XPT2046_CS, XPT2046_IRQ, XPT2046_MISO, CYD_LED_RED, CYD_LED_GREEN, CYD_LED_BLUE, CYD_LDR,
CYD_SPEAKER, BOOT_PIN.
THE TOUCH FILM
The XPT2046 has its own pins, away from the display's SPI bus, so clock it by hand as the demo does: CS LOW, the
command byte, then 12 bits.
0x90 reads X and 0xD0 reads Y, and IRQ goes LOW while the glass is pressed. With setRotation(1):
x = map(rawX, 240, 3855, 0, 319); y = map(rawY, 290, 3805, 0, 239);
A click holds the pen down for at least 0.1 s of simulation. Hold the mouse button for a longer press.
PROPERTIES (double-click the part > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with ESP32-2432S028 Cheap Yellow Display
(TEP Proteus))
WIFISSID the router in range (default TEP-WiFi); WIFIPASS its password (default 12345678)
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on Serial; BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
TROUBLESHOOTING
* The display stays black: set TFT_BL HIGH, SPI.begin(TFT_SCLK, TFT_MISO, TFT_MOSI, TFT_CS), tft.begin().
* The picture is upside down: use tft.setRotation(1), with the micro-USB on the left.
* The touch does nothing: read IRQ with pinMode(XPT2046_IRQ, INPUT), and send one command first, as the demo does in
setup().
* The touch lands in the wrong place: use the map() lines above, after setRotation(1).
* The DHT22 does not answer: it is on IO27 with dht.begin() in setup().
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits in the simulation - use long.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download ESP32-2432S028 Cheap Yellow Display Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
ESP32-2432S028 Cheap Yellow Display Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 242 files (3.8 MB, 8.7 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 242 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, 9ff9efb31e81f0d10cbeb77dcfe42f9717f017db1a469b4d1f04b4a9f90ccc63. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "esp32-2432s028-tep-v1-0-b9297ad8f26b4e5a84dbfb74f3cee8dc.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "esp32-2432s028-tep-v1-0-b9297ad8f26b4e5a84dbfb74f3cee8dc.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
