WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no ESP32 processor model, so this is NOT a real ESP32 chip. Our team has put a lot of effort into
building this board
ourselves: it is M5Stack's StickC Plus2 - the small orange stick with the ESP32-PICO-V3-02, the 1.14" 135 x 240
ST7789V2 display, the
M5 key, the side keys, the red LED, the Grove socket and the 8-pin HAT socket - that runs YOUR ESP32 Arduino sketch in
Proteus:
* You write a normal sketch (the GPIO numbers of the product, analogRead 0-4095, analogWrite, ledcWrite,
attachInterrupt, tone,
Wire, SPI, Serial, WiFi, WebServer, HTTPClient ...) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our board package "TEP
Boards for
Proteus" 1.49.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* The display is ON the part: Adafruit_ST7789 tft(&SPI, TFT_CS, TFT_DC, TFT_RST) with tft.init(135, 240) and
setRotation(1).
* The Grove socket gives I2C on G32 / G33; the HAT socket G26, G25 and G0.
The part lies on its side, the USB-C port on the left, so that setRotation(1) stands upright. The HAT socket: GND 5VO
G26 G25 G0 BAT 3V3 5VI
(5VO, BAT and 5VI are drawn only; G25 shares its pin with G36 on the real product); the Grove socket: GND 5V G32 G33.
It is drawn larger
than the real product, so that the display can be read on the sheet.
TEP additions: the PANEL pad (or the display) opens the board's panel, the USB-C port opens the serial monitor.
Limits (say them before you start): your sketch gets 8 KB of RAM in the simulation (the real one: 520 KB plus 2 MB of
PSRAM), about
256 KB of flash, int is 16 bits in the simulation (use long / int32_t for big numbers), no FreeRTOS tasks, no second
core, no Bluetooth,
no ESP-IDF, no real TLS, no soft AP. The MPU6886, the BM8563 clock, the microphone and the IR emitter's light are NOT
modelled, and the
M5Unified / M5StickCPlus2 libraries are not for this part: use the pins directly. See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "M5STICKC" in Pick Devices):
M5STICKC PLUS2 "M5StickC PLUS2" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > ESP32 Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL. Two TEP
windows, none with
a Windows title bar: the panel (the PANEL pad: Wi-Fi, Pins, Test, Settings, Help) and the serial monitor (the USB-C
port, 115200 baud:
Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs).
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other Wi-Fi boards; it replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in
MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 30 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* M5StickC-PLUS2-Climate-Badge: the monitor printed "Wi-Fi: http://192.168.1.101/" and a status line every 10 s; the
display showed the temperature, the humidity and the low and high.
* SHOWER on the SHT31's window: ">> TOO DAMP", the screen red, the red LED blinking. Key A (the monitor's Board tab):
">> Key A: the graph", the graph on the screen.
* ROOM: ">> Dry again". The phone showed the page; its CLEAR link: ">> Low and high cleared from the phone".
* about 180 s of simulation, no errors, with the pop-ups, the panel and the monitor open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPSTICKCP2.LIB is the board;
the others
are the demo's parts: TEPSHT31.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPSHT31.DLL) to the MODELS folder (...\Proteus 8
Professional\MODELS) - replace
an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the M5StickC PLUS2).
4. Delete TEPSTICKCP2.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards
Manager once).
Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > M5StickC PLUS2 (TEP Proteus). From the Library Manager: Adafruit ST7735
and ST7789,
Adafruit GFX, Adafruit BusIO.
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "M5STICKC".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
M5StickC-PLUS2-Climate-Badge.pdsprj - U1 the M5StickC PLUS2 (StickC_Climate_Badge.hex) is a climate badge for a server
room, a greenhouse
or a store: U2 = an SHT31 (Advance) on its Grove socket, MOB1 = the Mobile WiFi Monitor on its page.
Press Run. The screen shows the temperature, the humidity and the lowest and highest temperature. Click SHOWER on the
SHT31's window: above
70 % the screen turns red, the red LED blinks and the buzzer pin sounds. Press the M5 key (or BOOT on the monitor's
Board tab): the screen
shows the graph of the humidity. ROOM brings it back. On the phone click ESP32 U1 for the page; its CLEAR link clears
the low and high.
Closed a window? The USB-C port opens the monitor, the PANEL pad the panel.
THE PINS (the label on the part, what it can do in the simulation)
G32 / G33 the Grove socket: Wire SDA / SCL here (Wire.begin(32, 33) on a real one), or GPIO
G26, G25, G0 the HAT socket: GPIO, PWM, interrupt, analogRead on G26 and G25
3V3, 5V, GND 3.3 V (the logic), 5 V, ground
Inside, not on the sockets: the display (MOSI 15, SCLK 13, CS 5, DC 14, RST 12, backlight 27), the keys A 37, B 39 and
C 35 (LOW when
pressed), HOLD 4, the red LED and IR 19 (HIGH = on here), the buzzer 2, Serial 1 / 3. The names in sketches: TFT_MOSI
... TFT_BL, BUTTON_A,
BUTTON_B, BUTTON_C, POWER_HOLD, LED_RED, BUZZER_PIN, GROVE_SDA, GROVE_SCL.
PROPERTIES (double-click the part > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with M5StickC PLUS2 (TEP Proteus))
WIFISSID the router in range (default TEP-WiFi); WIFIPASS its password (default 12345678)
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on Serial; BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
TROUBLESHOOTING
* The display stays black: set TFT_BL HIGH, SPI.begin(TFT_SCLK, -1, TFT_MOSI, TFT_CS), tft.init(135, 240).
* The picture is shifted or sideways: tft.setRotation(1), with the USB-C on the left.
* The SHT31 does not answer: Wire.begin(GROVE_SDA, GROVE_SCL), and the address 0x44 with ADDR LOW.
* A real PLUS2 turns off when you release the power key: set POWER_HOLD HIGH first thing in setup().
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits in the simulation - use long.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download M5StickC PLUS2 Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
M5StickC PLUS2 Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 238 files (3.6 MB, 7.9 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 238 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, 9e0c78f1cee7994503cbbb0ac6487a5c126bd03b0883e87f837c4566f2544818. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "m5stickc-plus2-tep-v1-0-43d8ef4ba10c4c62b1bb6ed98a458e8e.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "m5stickc-plus2-tep-v1-0-43d8ef4ba10c4c62b1bb6ed98a458e8e.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
