WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no ESP32-S3 (Xtensa) processor model and no SX1262, so this is NOT a real Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3. It
is the Heltec V3 - the white 50 x 25 mm board with the ESP32-S3FN8, the SX1262 LoRa radio and its IPEX antenna
socket, the Wi-Fi spring antenna, the 0.96" 128 x 64 OLED, the USB-C port (CP2102), the PRG and RST buttons, the
orange power LED and the white LED - that runs YOUR Heltec sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal Heltec V3 sketch with the ESP32-S3's GPIO numbers and Heltec's names (LED = 35, Vext = 36,
RST_OLED = 21, SDA_OLED / SCL_OLED = 17 / 18, the radio on SS 8, RST_LoRa 12, BUSY_LoRa 13, DIO1 14), RadioLib
for the radio, Adafruit SSD1306 for the OLED, WiFi and WebServer, and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our
board package "TEP Boards for Proteus" 1.32.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* Inside the board, Proteus's own ATmega2560 model runs the compiled sketch at 16 MHz; our model (TEPNET.DLL)
wraps it: the 28 header GPIOs with their numbers, 3.3 V logic, analogRead (0 .. 4095 for 0 .. 3.3 V), PWM and
attachInterrupt on any pin, Wi-Fi (the board joins TEP-WiFi, 192.168.1.101 for U1), RST, PRG (GPIO0), the white
LED on GPIO35, the power LED and the built-in serial monitor on the USB port (Serial).
* The SX1262 is in the board: SPI to NSS 8 goes to the radio model (the one in our SX1262 LoRa module library) -
commands, BUSY, DIO1 interrupts, time on air, RSSI and SNR from the distance. Two Heltec boards in one design
talk to each other over LoRa; the LORADIST property sets how far apart they are (10 m .. 20 km).
* The OLED is in the board too: an SSD1306 at I2C address 0x3C, powered when Vext (GPIO36) is LOW, reset by
RST_OLED (GPIO21); the board shows what your sketch draws, in the OLED's blue-white.
TEP additions: the USB port opens the serial monitor; the PANEL pad (or a click on the OLED) opens the board's panel
(Wi-Fi, the router, the board's pins); the LEDs glow and the Wi-Fi spring antenna turns green while Wi-Fi is on.
Limits (say them before you start): 16 MHz, 8 KB of RAM (the real ESP32-S3: 240 MHz, 512 KB), 256 KB of flash; int
is 16 bits (use long / int32_t for big numbers); one SPI and one I2C bus (Wire1 is Wire; the OLED's address goes to
the board); Bluetooth, the battery input and deep sleep are not there. See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "HELTEC" in Pick Devices):
HELTEC WIFI LORA 32 V3 "Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > ESP32 Boards), prefix U, model
TEPNET.DLL. The serial monitor (115200 baud) has Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs (the Board tab: the LEDs, the
buttons, the GPIOs and the analog pins with their volts). Like every TEP window it has no Windows title bar.
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other sketch boards, the Ethernet shields and the Laptop / Mobile WiFi Monitors;
it replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 27 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* Heltec-LoRa-Field-Monitor: both SX1262 radios started (868.0 MHz, SF7, BW 125 kHz); the node's first report
reached the gateway at RSSI -107.0 dBm, SNR 9.8 dB (LORADIST 1 km) and the gateway's answer came back; the gateway
joined TEP-WiFi as 192.168.1.101. Both OLEDs showed the readings (27.4 C, 61 %, 850 lx, soil 63 to 66 %), the
white LEDs and PWR LEDs lit.
* From the phone: LED OFF - the node's white LED went off with the next LoRa answer - and LED ON again; the laptop
read /json.
* About 27 s of simulation in 290 s on our PC, with the three sensor pop-ups, both monitors and both tools open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPHELTECV3.LIB is the board;
the others are the demo's parts: TEPAHT20.LIB, TEPBH1750.LIB, TEPCAPSOIL.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPAHT20.DLL, TEPBH1750.DLL, TEPCAPSOIL.DLL) to the MODELS
folder (...\Proteus 8 Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the
Heltec V3).
4. Delete TEPHELTECV3.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX files): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR
Boards platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the
Boards Manager once). Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 (TEP Proteus). The demo
also needs RadioLib, Adafruit SSD1306, Adafruit GFX and Adafruit BusIO (Library Manager).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "HELTEC".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex files and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
Heltec-LoRa-Field-Monitor.pdsprj - a LoRa field station and its gateway, two Heltec V3 boards 1 km apart:
U2 the field node (Heltec_Field_Node.hex, LORADIST 1 km) reads U3 = the AHT20 (temperature, humidity) and U4 = the
BH1750 (light, ADDR to GND: 0x23) on its I2C (SDA GPIO41, SCL GPIO42) and U5 = the capacitive soil moisture probe
on GPIO7 (0 % in air at 2.54 V, 100 % in water at 1.27 V), shows them on its OLED and every 5 s sends a LoRa
packet (868.0 MHz, SF7, 125 kHz, +14 dBm): "N,seq, temp x10,humidity,lux,soil,led". Its PRG button sends one at
once. U1 the gateway (Heltec_LoRa_Gateway.hex) listens, answers every packet ("G,seq, led, seconds"), shows the
readings and the link (RSSI, SNR) on its OLED (PRG: the second page) and joins TEP-WiFi as 192.168.1.101: PC1 the
Laptop WiFi Monitor opens http://192.168.1.101/json, MOB1 the Mobile WiFi Monitor http://192.168.1.101/ - the
readings, how long ago the node was heard, and the links LED ON / LED OFF / EVERY 5 S / EVERY 30 S. They reach the
node in the gateway's next answer: tap LED OFF and the node's white LED goes out a few seconds later - LoRa both
ways. The white LED of the gateway is on while the node is heard (a packet in the last 15 s).
The sensors are the Advance versions: they open their pop-up windows at Run - change the temperature, the light or
the soil's water content there and watch the OLEDs and the page follow. The modules' VCC go to Proteus' power rail.
Press Run. Closed a monitor? Click the board's USB-C port.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
1 .. 7 GPIO, analogRead (ADC1), PWM, interrupt, touch pad
19 / 20 GPIO, analogRead (ADC2), PWM, interrupt
21 GPIO; also RST_OLED (the OLED's reset)
26, 33 .. 40, 45, 46 GPIO, PWM, interrupt
35 GPIO; also the white LED (LED_BUILTIN)
36 GPIO; also Vext (LOW = the OLED and the Ve pins on)
37 GPIO (on the real board the battery divider's switch)
41 / 42 Wire SDA / SCL (I2C), GPIO
47 / 48 Serial1 TX / RX, GPIO
TX 43 / RX 44 Serial (the USB port, the board's monitor)
0 PRG: GPIO0, LOW while the button is pressed
RST the reset (LOW = reset)
3V3, Ve, 5V, GND 3.3 V (the logic), 3.3 V, 5 V, ground
On the board only: the SX1262 (NSS 8, SCK 9, MOSI 10, MISO 11, RESET 12, BUSY 13, DIO1 14) and the OLED's I2C (SDA
17, SCL 18). The pins are 3.3 V logic.
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 (TEP
Proteus)) LORADIST the LoRa distance to the other boards: 10 m, 100 m, 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, 20 km (a
link uses the
larger of its two ends)
WIFISSID / WIFIPASS the router in range (TEP-WiFi / 12345678)
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on the USB port (Serial); BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
TIME the clock for NTP (PC, or a fixed UTC time)
Two or more Heltec V3 boards per design are fine: the radio and the OLED have no pins on the sheet.
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing happens at Run: the HEX was not built with TEP Boards for Proteus - select Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 (TEP
Proteus) and export the binary again.
* The OLED stays dark: set Vext (GPIO36) LOW before display.begin(), and use address 0x3C.
* radio.begin() fails: SX1262 radio = new Module(8, 14, 12, 13) - NSS, DIO1, RST, BUSY.
* No answer over LoRa: both boards on the same frequency, spreading factor, bandwidth and sync word; a larger
LORADIST lowers the RSSI - past the sensitivity nothing arrives (the serial monitor says so).
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits on the hidden AVR - use long.
* The page shows old values: tap REFRESH (the monitors do not reload by themselves).
BUG REPORTS AND FEATURE REQUESTS

REBUILDING THE FIRMWARE (OPTIONAL)
The HEX files are supplied. Install TEP Boards for Proteus (INSTALLATION step 5) and the libraries, open Arduino
Code\Heltec_LoRa_Gateway and Arduino Code\Heltec_Field_Node, select Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 (TEP Proteus) and use
Sketch > Export Compiled Binary. For a real Heltec V3 install the "esp32" boards (Espressif) in the Boards Manager,
select "Heltec WiFi LoRa 32(V3)" and upload over USB - the same sketches (on the real board the sensors go on Wire1:
Wire1.begin(41, 42), as the node does).
MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS
Modelled: the Heltec V3's 28 header GPIOs on a hidden ATmega2560 (Proteus's AVR model, 16 MHz, 3.3 V); digital I/O,
analogRead (GPIO 1 .. 7, 19, 20) for 0 .. 3.3 V, PWM and attachInterrupt through the board model; Wi-Fi (station,
WebServer, HTTPClient); the SX1262 (the commands RadioLib uses, BUSY, DIO1, time on air, RSSI / SNR from LORADIST,
other Heltec boards on the same air); the SSD1306 OLED (128 x 64, its commands and addressing modes, contrast,
Vext, RST_OLED); RST, PRG, the white LED, the power LED; Serial on the USB port (the board's monitor), Serial1 on 47
/ 48, Wire on 41 / 42 and SPI to the radio (the AVR's hardware).
Not modelled: the ESP32-S3 itself (240 MHz, 512 KB RAM, its registers, deep sleep), Bluetooth, the battery charger
and the VBAT divider on GPIO1 / 37, the LoRa radios of other model DLLs (our SX1262 / SX1278 modules: their own
air), the Ve pins' switch (always on), the touch pads' sensing. The simulation runs below real time.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 195 files (3.9 MB, 8.5 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 195 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, a1c28d3255c08225e1f729ec1968f63bc86c42465562430992baf802584f281c. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "heltec-wifi-lora-32-v3-tep-v1-0-7c2e8c3bb5a0422ba7fac7df13bd4fb7.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "heltec-wifi-lora-32-v3-tep-v1-0-7c2e8c3bb5a0422ba7fac7df13bd4fb7.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
