WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no i.MX RT1062 (ARM Cortex-M7) processor model, so this is NOT a real Teensy. It is the Teensy 4.1 - the
green 61 x 18 mm board with the NXP MIMXRT1062 processor, the 8 MB flash chip, micro-USB, the 5-pin USB host header,
the 6-pin Ethernet header, the PROGRAM button, the micro SD socket, the orange LED on pin 13 and 2 x 24 pins - that runs
YOUR Teensy sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal Teensy sketch with the Teensy's pin numbers (0 .. 41, A0 .. A17, LED_BUILTIN = 13, Serial,
Serial1, Wire, SPI, analogRead 0 .. 1023, analogWrite, attachInterrupt ...) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with
our board package "TEP Boards for Proteus" 1.30.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* Inside the board, Proteus's own ATmega2560 model runs the compiled sketch at 16 MHz; our model (TEPNET.DLL) wraps
it: the 42 pins with their Teensy numbers, 3.3 V logic, analogRead on A0 .. A17 (0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 3.3 V), the
orange LED on pin 13 (lit when HIGH), the power LED and the built-in serial monitor on the USB (Serial).
* The demo is a CAN bus logger: an MCP2515 module hears an engine node (an Arduino UNO V4.0 with its own MCP2515),
a micro SD card module keeps every frame in CANLOG.CSV and a W5500 Ethernet module serves the page to the Laptop
and Mobile WiFi Monitors on our virtual router TEP-WiFi.
TEP additions: the micro-USB port opens the serial monitor; the LEDs glow in the simulation (the red PWR LED is ours -
the real board has none). There is no panel: the board has no Wi-Fi.
Limits (say them before you start): 16 MHz, 8 KB of RAM (the real Teensy 4.1: 600 MHz, 1 MB), 256 KB of flash; int is
16 bits (use long / int32_t for big numbers); the Teensy's own CAN ports, micro SD socket, Ethernet PHY, USB host and
audio are drawn, not modelled - put modules on SPI, as the demo does. See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "TEENSY" in Pick Devices):
TEENSY 4.1 "Teensy 4.1" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > Teensy Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL. The serial monitor
(115200 baud) has Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs (the Board tab: the LEDs and every pin). Like every TEP window it
has no Windows title bar.
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other sketch boards, the W5500 module and the Laptop / Mobile WiFi Monitors; it
replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 27 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* Teensy-4-1-CAN-Logger: the Teensy found the MCP2515 (500 kbps, 8 MHz crystal), the card (CANLOG.CSV) and the
W5500 (192.168.1.94, link ON); the engine node's ID 0x100 arrived twice a second, every frame acknowledged, and the
Teensy's ID 0x200 reached the node every second - 0 error frames, TEC 0, REC 0 on both modules all run long.
* LED ON on the phone lit the LED on the UNO's D7 ("from node 2: LED ON" on its monitor); LED OFF put it out.
* OVER-REV at 2800 rpm on each sweep, HOT at 85 C; LOG on the laptop showed the last lines of CANLOG.CSV with the
event lines; the card held 4867 bytes after 110 s of simulation (1423 s on our PC, with the four pop-ups, both
serial monitors and both tools open).
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPTEENSY41.LIB is the board;
the others are the demo's parts: TEPMCP2515.LIB, ArduinoV4TEP.LIB (the engine node's UNO), TEPMICROSD.LIB,
TEPW5500MOD.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPMCP2515.DLL, TEPARDUINO.DLL, TEPMICROSD.DLL) to the MODELS
folder (...\Proteus 8 Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the
Teensy 4.1).
4. Delete TEPTEENSY41.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX files): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards Manager
once). Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > Teensy 4.1 (TEP Proteus). The demo also needs autowp-mcp2515,
Ethernet and SD (Library Manager).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "TEENSY".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex files and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
Teensy-4-1-CAN-Logger.pdsprj - U1 the Teensy 4.1 (Teensy41_CAN_Logger.hex) is a CAN bus data logger: U3 = an MCP2515
CAN module (CS 9, INT 2; its 8 MHz crystal, 500 kbps), U4 = a micro SD card module (CS 4, an empty card) and U2 = a
W5500 Ethernet module (CS 10; the fixed address 192.168.1.94) share SPI (11 MOSI, 12 MISO, 13 SCK). ARD1 = an Arduino
UNO V4.0 running CAN_Node1.hex (the engine node of our MCP2515 library) with U5 = its MCP2515 (CS D10, INT D2) and D1 =
its LED on D7 (R1 220R); CANH and CANL join U3 and U5. PC1 the Laptop WiFi Monitor and MOB1 the Mobile WiFi Monitor
open http://192.168.1.94/. The MCP2515 and micro SD modules are the Advance versions: each opens its pop-up window at
Run, as the W5500 does.
The engine node sends ID 0x100 every 500 ms: the engine speed (800 .. 3000 rpm, up and down), the coolant (rising from
60 C) and the road speed. The Teensy logs every frame to CANLOG.CSV (time_s,id,rpm,coolant_c,speed_kmh) with event
lines for OVER-REV (2800 rpm and up), HOT (85 C and up), LED ON and LED OFF; it writes the card every 2 s. It answers
on the bus with ID 0x200 every second: byte 0 switches the engine node's LED. The page has REFRESH, LOG (the last
lines of the file), LED ON, LED OFF and NEW LOG.
Press Run. Open the page on the phone and tap LED ON: the LED on the UNO's D7 lights. Wait for OVER-REV and HOT, open
LOG on the laptop, tap LED OFF. The micro SD pop-up shows CANLOG.CSV on the card.
The modules' supplies: in the demo the VCC of the MCP2515s, the micro SD module and the W5500 go to Proteus' power rail
(their models read the supply as a digital level). On a real Teensy 4.1 the pins are NOT 5 V tolerant: run the MCP2515
at 3.3 V (or put a level shifter on its SO line) and use 3.3 V micro SD / W5500 modules. Closed the monitor? Click the
board's micro-USB.
The monitor (115200) takes STATUS, LOG, NEW, ON, OFF and HELP.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
0 / 1 Serial1 RX1 / TX1 (not the USB), GPIO, PWM, interrupt
2 .. 12 GPIO, PWM, interrupt; 10 .. 12 are also SPI CS / MOSI / MISO
13 SCK of SPI and the orange LED (it flickers with SPI traffic, as on the real board)
14 .. 27 A0 .. A13: analogRead 0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 3.3 V, GPIO, interrupt; 18 / 19 are Wire SDA / SCL
28 .. 37 GPIO, interrupt (PWM on 28, 29, 33, 36, 37)
38 .. 41 A14 .. A17: analogRead, GPIO; interrupt on 38 / 39 only
VIN, 3.3V, GND 5 V in, 3.3 V (the logic), ground
Serial is the USB (the board's monitor), not pins 0 / 1. analogRead(0) is A0, as on the Teensy. The pins are 3.3 V
logic. The bottom pads (34 .. 54 on the real board), the VBAT / PROGRAM / ON-OFF pins and the USB host pins are not
modelled.
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with Teensy 4.1 (TEP Proteus))
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on the USB (Serial); BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
One Teensy 4.1 per design (its USB serial lines are hidden pins, and Proteus joins hidden pins of the same name across
parts).
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing happens at Run: the HEX was not built with TEP Boards for Proteus - select Teensy 4.1 (TEP Proteus) and
export the binary again.
* "MCP2515 NOT ANSWERING": CS on 9, SI on 11, SO on 12, SCK on 13; setBitrate(CAN_500KBPS, MCP_8MHZ) for the module's
8 MHz crystal (without MCP_8MHZ the library assumes 16 MHz and the bus speeds differ).
* No frames: both modules need CANH to CANH and CANL to CANL, the same bit rate, normal mode; the engine node needs
its HEX (CAN_Node1.hex beside the project).
* "NO SD CARD": CS on 4 and the module's CARD property not NONE; one SPI device talks at a time (every CS HIGH first).
* "No W5500 found" or "link OFF": SCS on 10, SCLK 13, MISO 12, MOSI 11; the module's CABLE property is IN.
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits on the hidden AVR - use long.
* The page shows old values: tap REFRESH (the monitors do not reload by themselves).
BUG REPORTS AND FEATURE REQUESTS

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download Teensy 4.1 Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
Teensy 4.1 Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 192 files (4.2 MB, 9.2 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 192 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, f67caa833b927ef85a564bcf997530536054987e0db706197769803987c04626. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "teensy-4-1-tep-v1-0-5c661dddb459469b94821c68fc44440b.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "teensy-4-1-tep-v1-0-5c661dddb459469b94821c68fc44440b.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
