WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no Microchip ATmega4809 (megaAVR 0-series) model, so this is NOT a real ATmega4809. It is the Arduino Nano
Every - the Nano's 45 x 18 mm board with its 2 x 15 castellated pins, the ATmega4809 turned 45 degrees, the SAMD11 USB
bridge, the MPM3610 buck converter, micro-USB, RESET and the L and ON LEDs - that runs YOUR Nano Every sketch in
Proteus:
* You write a normal Nano Every sketch (D0 .. D13, A0 .. A7, LED_BUILTIN, Serial, Serial1, Wire, SPI, EEPROM,
analogRead 0 .. 1023, analogWrite, attachInterrupt ...) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our board package
"TEP Boards for Proteus" 1.19.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* Inside the board, Proteus's own ATmega2560 model runs the compiled sketch at 16 MHz; our model (TEPNET.DLL) wraps
it: the Nano's pins, 5 V logic, A0 .. A7 (0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 5 V), the RESET button, the L LED on D13, the ON LED
and the built-in serial monitor on the USB (Serial).
* The Nano Every has no radio. For Wi-Fi, put an ESP-01 / ESP-01S on Serial1 (D0 / D1) and talk to it with AT
commands, as the demo does: it joins our virtual router TEP-WiFi with the Laptop and Mobile WiFi Monitors.
TEP additions: the micro-USB opens the serial monitor; the LEDs glow in the simulation. There is no panel: the board has
no Wi-Fi.
Limits (say them before you start): 16 MHz, 8 KB of RAM (the real ATmega4809: 20 MHz, 6 KB), the ATmega4809's own
peripherals (its event system, the CCL logic, TCA / TCB timers by register) are not there - write Arduino code, not
registers. See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "NANO EVERY" in Pick Devices):
ARDUINO NANO EVERY "Arduino Nano Every" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > Arduino Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL. The
serial monitor (115200 baud) has Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs (the Board tab: the ON and L LEDs, the RESET key,
every pin). Like every TEP window it has no Windows title bar.
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other sketch boards, the ESP-01 / ESP-01S modules and the Laptop / Mobile WiFi
Monitors; it replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 26 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* Nano-Every-Radar-Doorbell: the monitor printed "Joining TEP-WiFi... connected", "Doorbell page:
http://192.168.1.102/", "Volume 20" and "Door clear, visitors 0, bell ARMED, sound DOORBELL, volume 20, IP
192.168.1.102, pages 0"; the ESP-01S's pop-up: ONLINE 192.168.1.102 (AT+CIPSERVER=1,80: OK); the DFPlayer's: the DEMO
card (14 files), volume 20.
* The laptop (192.168.1.21) and the phone (192.168.1.41) opened http://192.168.1.102/ (HTTP 200): "Door: clear -
visitors 0".
* APPROACH on the radar's pop-up: OUT HIGH (motion at 5.2 m), "Visitor #1 at 13.6 s", "Ding-dong: DOORBELL" - the
DFPlayer played 01/001.mp3 DOORBELL (BUSY LOW); the board's ON and L LEDs lit; the phone's REFRESH: "SOMEONE THERE -
visitors 1".
* WELCOME on the phone ("Page: /welcome"), then WALK BY on the radar: "Visitor #2 at 23.7 s", "Ding-dong: WELCOME" -
01/002.mp3 WELCOME HOME; the laptop: visitors 2, the sound WELCOME, playing.
* About 28 s of simulation, no errors; about 13 % of real time with the three pop-ups, the monitor and both tools open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPNANOEVERY.LIB is the board;
the others are the demo's parts: TEPRCWL0516.LIB, TEPDFPLAYER.LIB, TEPESP01S.LIB, TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPRCWL0516.DLL, TEPDFPLAYER.DLL) to the MODELS folder
(...\Proteus 8 Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows the Nano Every).
4. Delete TEPNANOEVERY.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards Manager
once). Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > Arduino Nano Every (TEP Proteus).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "NANO EVERY".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
Nano-Every-Radar-Doorbell.pdsprj - U1 the Nano Every (NanoEvery_Radar_Doorbell.hex) is a doorbell that rings itself: U3
= the RCWL-0516 microwave radar (OUT on D2), U4 = the DFPlayer Mini (its RX on D4, BUSY on D3; the DEMO micro SD card)
and U2 = the ESP-01S on Serial1 (its TXD to D0 / RX0, its RXD to D1 / TX1; 115200 baud, AT commands). PC1 the Laptop
WiFi Monitor and MOB1 the Mobile WiFi Monitor open http://192.168.1.102/ (the ESP-01S is U2). The RCWL-0516 and the
DFPlayer are the Advance versions: each opens its pop-up window at Run, as the ESP-01S does.
Press Run. The ESP-01S joins TEP-WiFi and the monitor prints the page's address. On the radar's pop-up click APPROACH (a
person walks up to the door): visitor #1, the DFPlayer plays DOORBELL (01/001.mp3), the L LED lights while someone is
there. On the phone tap WELCOME, then WALK BY on the radar: visitor #2 with WELCOME HOME (01/002.mp3). The page also has
RING (a test), CHIME (0002.mp3), VOL - / VOL + (5 a step) and ARM / QUIET (QUIET counts visitors without the bell).
The modules' supplies: in the demo the ESP-01S's VCC, the DFPlayer's VCC and the radar's VIN go to Proteus' power rail
(power terminals) - their models read the supply as a digital level, which the board's 5V and 3.3V (analog sources) do
not give them; on a real board the ESP-01S needs its own 3.3 V regulator, the DFPlayer and the RCWL-0516 sit on the 5V
pin. Closed the monitor? Click the board's micro-USB. The monitor (115200) takes RING, ARM, QUIET, VOL n, STATUS and AT
commands for the ESP-01S.
The DFPlayer gets its commands from one pin: the sketch sends the module's 10-byte frames at 9600 baud itself (start
bit, 8 bits, stop bit, 104 us each) - the module never has to answer, so no second serial port is needed.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
RX0 / TX1 D0 / D1: Serial1 (not the USB), GPIO
D2 .. D13 GPIO, interrupt, analogWrite (PWM on D3, D5, D6, D9, D10 on the real board; any pin in the
simulation) D10 .. D13 also SPI SS / MOSI / MISO / SCK; D13 is also the L LED
A0 .. A7 analogRead 0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 5 V; A0 .. A5 also GPIO (on the real board A6 / A7 too)
A4 / A5 Wire SDA / SCL (I2C)
+5V / 3.3V 5 V (the board's logic) and a 3.3 V output
GND, RST ground; RST LOW holds the board in reset
AREF, VIN drawn, not modelled
Serial is the USB (the board's monitor), not D0 / D1. The pins are 5 V logic, as on the real Nano Every.
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with Arduino Nano Every (TEP Proteus))
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on the USB (Serial); BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
One Nano Every per design (its USB serial lines are hidden pins, and Proteus joins hidden pins of the same name across
parts).
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing happens at Run: the HEX was not built with TEP Boards for Proteus - select Arduino Nano Every (TEP Proteus)
and export the binary again.
* The ESP-01S does not answer, NO POWER on its pop-up: its VCC needs a digital supply (the power terminal, as in the
demo); TXD to D0 (RX0), RXD to D1 (TX1); Serial1.begin(115200).
* "Joining TEP-WiFi... FAILED": the sketch's SSID / password differ from the ESP-01S's WIFISSID / WIFIPASS.
* No sound: the DFPlayer needs its card online (0.8 s after power) before the first command; its RX on D4; check the
card (the pop-up) and the volume.
* No visitor: the RCWL-0516 sees moving people only (a person standing still is not seen, as on the real module); OUT on
D2.
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits, as on the real ATmega4809.
* The page shows old values: tap REFRESH (the monitors do not reload by themselves).

REBUILDING THE FIRMWARE (OPTIONAL)
The HEX file is supplied. Install TEP Boards for Proteus (INSTALLATION step 5), open Arduino
Code\NanoEvery_Radar_Doorbell, select Arduino Nano Every (TEP Proteus) and use Sketch > Export Compiled Binary. For a
real Nano Every install "Arduino megaAVR Boards" in the Boards Manager, select "Arduino Nano Every" and upload - the
same sketch.
MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS
Modelled: the Nano Every's header pins on a hidden ATmega2560 (Proteus's AVR model, 16 MHz, 5 V); digital I/O,
analogRead (A0 .. A7) 0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 5 V, PWM (analogWrite) and attachInterrupt on any pin through the board model;
the RESET button, the L LED on D13, the ON LED; Serial (the USB, the board's monitor), Serial1 on D0 / D1, Wire on A4 /
A5 and SPI on D10 .. D13 (the AVR's hardware), EEPROM; Wi-Fi through a TEP ESP-01 / ESP-01S on Serial1.
Not modelled: the ATmega4809 itself (20 MHz, 6 KB RAM, its event system, CCL, TCA / TCB timers and UPDI), the SAMD11 as
a chip, the two small status LEDs in the middle (drawn, not driven), VIN (7 - 21 V) and AREF. Upload over USB is not
used (Proteus loads the HEX). The simulation runs below real time.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download Arduino Nano Every Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
Arduino Nano Every Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 176 files (3.2 MB, 7.1 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 176 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, 0a272d8e41c3e5b1805e44efe464d9ff705ba880d41902d56b060be08c83146f. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "arduino-nano-every-tep-v1-0-3e600d6493be40d0bc2f584e693d2c62.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "arduino-nano-every-tep-v1-0-3e600d6493be40d0bc2f584e693d2c62.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
