WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no Renesas RA4M1 (Arm Cortex-M4) model, so this is NOT a real RA4M1 chip. It is the Arduino UNO R4 Minima
- the UNO's size, shape and headers, the RA4M1, USB-C, the DC jack, the SWD and ICSP headers, RESET and the L, TX, RX
and ON
LEDs - that runs YOUR UNO R4 Minima sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal UNO R4 sketch (D0 .. D13, A0 .. A5, LED_BUILTIN, Serial, Serial1, Wire, SPI, EEPROM, analogRead
0 .. 1023 ...) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our board package "TEP Boards for Proteus" 1.18.0 (in Arduino
Code - see INSTALLATION).
* Inside the board, Proteus's own ATmega2560 model runs the compiled sketch at 16 MHz; our model (TEPNET.DLL) wraps
it: the UNO R4's headers, 5 V logic, A0 .. A5 (0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 5 V), the RESET button, the L LED on D13, the ON
LED and the built-in serial monitor on the USB-C (Serial).
* The Minima has no radio. For a network, add a W5500 (or W5100) Ethernet module with the Arduino Ethernet library, as
the demo does: it joins the same virtual network as our Wi-Fi parts (TEP-WiFi, the Laptop and Mobile WiFi Monitors).
TEP additions: the USB-C opens the serial monitor; the LEDs glow in the simulation. There is no panel: the board has no
Wi-Fi (the UNO R4 WiFi library has the Wi-Fi panel).
Limits (say them before you start): 16 MHz, 8 KB of RAM (the real RA4M1: 48 MHz, 32 KB), int is 16 bits (the real board:
32 bits - use long for big numbers), no DAC, no CAN, no op-amp, no RTC, no HID (keyboard / mouse) USB. See MODEL SCOPE
AND
LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "UNO R4 MINIMA" in Pick Devices):
ARDUINO UNO R4 MINIMA "Arduino UNO R4 Minima" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > Arduino Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL.
The serial monitor (115200 baud) has Monitor, Plotter and Board tabs (the Board tab: the ON and L LEDs, the RESET key,
every pin). Like every TEP window it has no Windows title bar.
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other sketch boards, the W5500 / W5100 modules and the Laptop / Mobile WiFi Monitors;
it replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 25 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* UNO-R4-Minima-Smoker-Controller: the monitor printed "W5500: 192.168.1.80, link ON", "Page: http://192.168.1.80/" and
"E-paper: full update" (2.52 s), then "Pit 104.0 C target 110 C fan 72 % HEATING" every 5 s; the e-paper showed PIT
104 C, TARGET 110 C, FAN 72 %, HEATING; the BTS7960 drove the blower FORWARD at 71 % (0.68 A from the 12 V B+).
* The laptop (192.168.1.21) opened http://192.168.1.80/json and the phone (192.168.1.41) http://192.168.1.80/ (HTTP
200) with the pit, the target and the fan; the ON and L LEDs of the board lit.
* TARGET 125 on the phone: "Target 125 C (the web page)", the fan at 100 % - STOKING on the e-paper (a partial update,
0.45 s) and the BTS7960 at 100 % (0.71 A).
* TARGET 95 on the phone: "Target 95 C (the web page)", the fan at 0 % - HOLDING; the BTS7960 asleep (R_EN and L_EN
LOW), the blower coasting.
* About 66 s of simulation, no errors; about 11 % of real time with the four pop-ups, the monitor and both tools open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPUNOR4MINIMA.LIB is the board;
the others are the demo's parts: TEPMAX6675.LIB, TEPBTS7960.LIB, TEPMOTOR775.LIB, TEPEPAPER.LIB, TEPW5500MOD.LIB,
TEPLAPTOP.LIB and TEPMOBILE.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPMAX6675.DLL, TEPBTS7960.DLL, TEPMOTOR775.DLL, TEPEPAPER.DLL)
to the MODELS folder (...\Proteus 8 Professional\MODELS) - replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that
knows the UNO R4 Minima).
4. Delete TEPUNOR4MINIMA.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards Manager
once). Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > Arduino UNO R4 Minima (TEP Proteus).
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "UNO R4 MINIMA".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
UNO-R4-Minima-Smoker-Controller.pdsprj - U1 the UNO R4 Minima (Minima_Smoker_Controller.hex) is a BBQ smoker's pit
controller: TC1 = the K-type probe on U3 = the MAX6675 (SCK D4, CS D5, SO D6), DRV1 = the BTS7960 (RPWM D3, R_EN and
L_EN on D2, LPWM on GND, B+ on +12V) driving M1 = the 775 motor (the blower), EPD1 = the 1.54" e-paper (DIN D11, CLK
D13, CS D7, DC D8, RST D9, BUSY A0) and U2 = the W5500 Ethernet module (SCS D10, SCLK D13, MOSI D11, MISO D12; the fixed
address 192.168.1.80). PC1 the Laptop WiFi Monitor opens http://192.168.1.80/json, MOB1 the Mobile WiFi Monitor the page
http://192.168.1.80/. The MAX6675, the BTS7960, the e-paper and the W5500 are the Advance versions: each opens its
pop-up window at Run.
Press Run. The probe reads 104 C, the target is 110 C: HEATING, the fan at 72 % (12 % for each degree below the target).
On the phone tap TARGET 125: STOKING, the fan at 100 %. Tap TARGET 95: the pit is above it - HOLDING, the fan stops. FAN
OFF stops the blower whatever the pit does, FAN AUTO gives it back to the controller. Change the probe's TEMPERATURE
(double- click TC1) for another pit. The e-paper shows the pit, the target, the fan and the address; it updates (a
partial update) when a value changes, at most every 4 s.
The W5500's 5V: in the demo it goes to Proteus' power rail (a power terminal) - its model reads the supply as a digital
level, which the board's 5V (an analog source) does not give it; on a real board it sits on the UNO's 5V. Closed the
monitor? Click the board's USB-C.
The monitor (115200) prints a line every 5 s and takes TARGET <C>, AUTO, OFF, STATUS and HELP.
THE PINS (the label on the board, what it can do in the simulation)
D0 / D1 Serial1 RX / TX (not the USB), GPIO
D2 .. D13 GPIO, interrupt, analogWrite (PWM on any pin through the board model)
D10 .. D13 also SPI SS / MOSI / MISO / SCK (the hidden AVR's hardware SPI); D13 is also the L LED
A0 .. A5 analogRead 0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 5 V; also GPIO
A4 / A5, SDA / SCL Wire (I2C) - the same two nets
5V / 3.3V / IOREF 5 V (the board's logic), a 3.3 V output, 5 V
GND, RESET ground; RESET LOW holds the board in reset
AREF, Vin, NC drawn, not modelled
Serial is the USB-C (the board's monitor), not D0 / D1. The pins are 5 V logic, as on the real UNO R4.
PROPERTIES (double-click the board > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with Arduino UNO R4 Minima (TEP Proteus))
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on the USB (Serial); BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
One UNO R4 Minima per design (its USB serial lines are hidden pins, and Proteus joins hidden pins of the same name
across parts).
TROUBLESHOOTING
* Nothing happens at Run: the HEX was not built with TEP Boards for Proteus - select Arduino UNO R4 Minima (TEP Proteus)
and export the binary again.
* "No W5500 found" in the monitor, and NO POWER on the W5500's pop-up: its 5V needs a digital supply (the power
terminal, as in the demo); SCS on D10, SCLK D13, MOSI D11, MISO D12.
* "link OFF": the W5500's CABLE property must be IN (or click its RJ45 jack on the pop-up).
* The e-paper stays blank: SPI_MODE0 (GxEPD2's default, the only mode Proteus's AVR SPI clocks), CS D7, DC D8, RST D9,
BUSY A0; the e-paper and the W5500 share D11 / D13, each with its own CS - keep both CS pins HIGH before either talks.
* The pit shows "---" (NO PROBE): the thermocouple's wire is broken (the probe's WIRE property) - the fan stays off.
* The motor does not turn: B+ needs +12V (a power terminal named +12V), R_EN and L_EN HIGH, LPWM LOW.
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits on the hidden AVR - use long.
* The page shows old values: tap REFRESH (the monitors do not reload by themselves).

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download Arduino UNO R4 Minima Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
Arduino UNO R4 Minima Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 181 files (3.7 MB, 8.1 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 181 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, c3c076557b9f96402e53c1050a6e714457721231a1728648825f2b15a0b9c756. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "arduino-uno-r4-minima-tep-v1-0-2886050744444a69b6468634d633eb3d.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "arduino-uno-r4-minima-tep-v1-0-2886050744444a69b6468634d633eb3d.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
