WHAT IS IT?
Proteus 8 has no MGM240S processor model, so this is NOT a real MGM240S chip. Our team has put a lot of effort into
building this board ourselves: it is the Arduino Nano Matter - the navy Nano board with a Silicon Labs MGM240S module,
an RGB LED and a user button - that runs YOUR Arduino sketch in Proteus:
* You write a normal sketch for the Nano's pins (D0 .. D13, A0 .. A7, analogRead 0-1023, analogWrite,
attachInterrupt, tone, Wire, SPI, Serial, Serial1) and compile it in the Arduino IDE with our board package "TEP
Boards for Proteus" 1.58.0 (in Arduino Code - see INSTALLATION).
* The Matter calls work: #include <Matter.h>, Matter.begin(), Matter.isDeviceCommissioned(),
Matter.getManualPairingCode(), Matter.isDeviceThreadConnected(), is_online(), with MatterLightbulb,
MatterDimmableLightbulb and MatterTemperature, as in the Silicon Labs examples.
* The phone stands in for the Matter hub: our Mobile WiFi Monitor's Bluetooth app lists the board, takes the pairing
code, then shows and writes the device's values. There is no Matter stack and no Thread network in the simulation:
the sketch's calls, the pairing steps and the values are what you see.
* The RGB LED is on the board: LEDR, LEDG and LEDB, lit when LOW (LED_BUILTIN is LEDR). BTN_BUILTIN is the user
button, LOW when pressed.
TEP additions: the USB port opens the serial monitor (the same window as our TEP Serial Monitor Advance).
Limits (say them before you start): one phone stands in for the hub; a real hub, a real Thread network and other
Matter device types are not in this version. Zigbee and the DACs are not modelled. The pairing code is always the
same, and pairing is forgotten at each Run.
Your sketch gets 8 KB of RAM in the simulation (the real one: 256 kB), about 256 KB of flash, and int is 16 bits in
the simulation (use long for big numbers). See MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS.
ONE DEVICE (search "NANO MATTER" in Pick Devices):
ARDUINO NANO MATTER "Arduino Nano Matter" V1.0 (Microprocessor ICs > Bluetooth Boards), prefix U, model TEPNET.DLL.
Its TEP window has no Windows title bar: the serial monitor (the USB port, 115200 baud: Monitor, Plotter and Board
tabs).
The same TEPNET.DLL also runs our other sketch boards and the phone; it replaces any older TEPNET.DLL (keep only this
newest one in MODELS).
TEST STATUS
V1.0: verified in Proteus 8.5 on 31 Oct 2026 with the demo project as shipped. What the Proteus run showed:
* Nano-Matter-Smart-Room: "Matter device is not commissioned", "Manual pairing code: 34970112332" and the QR code URL,
then the sketch waited, with the blue LED on.
* The phone's Bluetooth app listed TEP Smart Room. A wrong code: "Wrong code" on the phone. The right code: "Paired",
"Waiting for Thread network...", "Connected to Thread network", "Waiting for Matter device discovery...", "Matter
device is now online", the green LED.
* 1 written to the Light on the phone: "Light ON", the relay on, and "Temperature: 24.0 C" every 3 s.
* The board's user button: "Button pressed", "Light OFF", the relay off, and false on the phone.
* The BME280's pop-up, a warmer room: "Temperature: 32.5 C", and the phone followed.
* about 36 s of simulation, no errors, with the BME280's and the relay's windows, the phone and the monitor open.
INSTALLATION (about 3 minutes)
1. Close Proteus. Extract the WHOLE ZIP to a normal folder (e.g. Desktop).
2. Copy everything in "Proteus Library Files" to the LIBRARY folder of Proteus, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY
(on some PCs: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY). TEPNANOMATTER.LIB is the board;
the others are the demo's parts: TEPBME280.LIB, TEPRELAY.LIB, TEPMOBILE.LIB and TEPLAPTOP.LIB.
3. Copy the DLLs from "Proteus Model Files" (TEPNET.DLL, TEPBME280.DLL, TEPRELAY.DLL) to the MODELS folder
(...\Proteus 8 Professional\MODELS) -
replace an older TEPNET.DLL (this one is the first that knows this board).
4. Delete TEPNANOMATTER.IDX from the LIBRARY folder if it is there.
5. The Arduino IDE (only to compile your own sketches - the demo has its HEX file): copy the folder
"Arduino Code\TEP Boards for Proteus\hardware" into your sketchbook folder (normally Documents\Arduino), so that
Documents\Arduino\hardware\tep\avr\boards.txt exists (replace an older copy); restart the IDE. The Arduino AVR Boards
platform must be installed (it comes with IDE 1.8.x; in IDE 2.x install "Arduino AVR Boards" from the Boards
Manager once).
Tools > Board > TEP Boards for Proteus > Arduino Nano Matter (TEP Proteus). The Matter library is in the board
package. From the Library Manager: Adafruit BME280 and Adafruit Unified Sensor.
6. Start Proteus. In Pick Devices (P) search "NANO MATTER".
RUN THE DEMO
Keep the .hex file and the DLLs beside the project in "Proteus Simulation".
Nano-Matter-Smart-Room.pdsprj - U1 the Nano Matter (NanoMatter_Smart_Room.hex) is a room that joins a Matter hub as a
light and a thermometer: U2 = the BME280 (Advance) on I2C (SDA A4, SCL A5), RLY1 = the lamp's relay (Advance) on D5,
MOB1 = the phone (Mobile WiFi Monitor), which stands in for the hub.
Press Run. The monitor prints the manual pairing code, and the blue LED shows that the board is waiting. On the phone
open the Bluetooth app, click Connect beside TEP Smart Room, click the Pairing code row, type 34970112332 and press
Send.
The monitor follows the steps to online, and the LED turns green. Click the Light row, type 1 and press Send: the
relay clicks on. In the monitor's Board tab click USER: the light goes off, and the phone shows it. On the BME280's
pop-up click the Temperature track: the phone follows.
Closed a window? The USB port opens the monitor, the OPEN PANEL pads open the relay and the BME280, a click on the
phone's screen the phone.
THE PINS (the label on the part, what it can do in the simulation)
RX0, TX1 Serial1 RX and TX, or GPIO
D2 .. D13 GPIO, PWM on most of them, interrupt; D10 .. D13 SPI
A0 .. A3, A6, A7 analogRead 0 .. 1023 for 0 .. 3.3 V, or GPIO (the core's numbers 14 .. 21)
A4, A5 Wire SDA, SCL
3.3V, 5V, GND 3.3 V (the logic), 5 V, ground; RST the board's reset
AREF, NC, VIN drawn, not modelled
LEDR, LEDG and LEDB are the RGB LED, lit when LOW. LED_BUILTIN is LEDR, with LED_BUILTIN_ACTIVE and
LED_BUILTIN_INACTIVE. BTN_BUILTIN is the user button. Serial is the USB: the board's built-in monitor.
PROPERTIES (double-click the part > Edit Properties)
PROGRAM the sketch's HEX (Arduino IDE: Sketch > Export Compiled Binary with Arduino Nano Matter (TEP Proteus))
MONITOR YES = the built-in serial monitor on Serial; BAUD its speed (115200, or AUTO)
AUTOOPEN YES = the monitor window opens at Run (the demo: YES)
TROUBLESHOOTING
* The phone's list is empty: Matter.begin(), then call Matter.isDeviceCommissioned(): the first call starts the
advertising. The phone needs this TEPNET.DLL or newer.
* "Wrong code" on the phone: type the manual pairing code from the monitor, with no spaces or dashes.
* The sketch stops at "Waiting for Matter device discovery...": call is_online() on one of your devices, in a loop.
* The relay acts backwards: its IN is active LOW.
* The RGB LED looks inverted: it lights when the pin is LOW.
* An integer goes wrong above 32767: int is 16 bits in the simulation - use long.
BUG REPORTS AND FEATURE REQUESTS

* Our Matter library has the calls of the library of that name in the Silicon Labs Arduino core; its code is ours.
* The demo sketch uses Adafruit BME280 and Adafruit Unified Sensor (BSD, Apache 2.0): install them with the Library
Manager to rebuild.
* Proteus is a product of Labcenter Electronics and is not included. Arduino is a name of Arduino, MGM240S of Silicon
Labs, and Matter and Thread of their alliances. The Bluetooth word mark belongs to Bluetooth SIG. This library is
not made or endorsed by them or by Labcenter.
REBUILDING THE FIRMWARE (OPTIONAL)
The HEX file is supplied. Install TEP Boards for Proteus (INSTALLATION step 5), open Arduino
Code\NanoMatter_Smart_Room, select Arduino Nano Matter (TEP Proteus) and use Sketch > Export Compiled Binary. For a
real board install Arduino's or Silicon Labs' core for the Nano Matter and select its Matter protocol stack. Its pins
work at 3.3 V.
MODEL SCOPE AND LIMITS
Modelled: the Nano's pins; digital I/O, analogRead 0 .. 1023, PWM (analogWrite), tone and attachInterrupt through the
board model; Serial (the board's monitor), Serial1, Wire and SPI; the RGB LED and the two buttons; the Matter calls
above, through the phone.
Not modelled: the MGM240S itself, the Matter stack, Thread, Zigbee, Bluetooth Mesh, the DACs, other Matter device
types, a real hub. The simulation runs below real time.

FAQs9 questionsContact TEP
How do I download Arduino Nano Matter Library for Proteus V1.0?
Wait for the 30-second guest countdown on this page, then press the download button; the file comes straight from our storage. Members who are logged in skip the wait. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use its Save as option. The download link is made for you when the countdown ends and works for 15 minutes; a saved or shared link stops working, so share this page instead.
What is inside the archive?
Arduino Nano Matter Library for Proteus V1.0 comes as a ZIP archive of 287 files (3.9 MB, 9.0 MB unpacked) holding Proteus library files, simulation model DLLs, a Proteus simulation, an Arduino sketch, an Arduino library, compiled HEX firmware and source code. Open the File Structure tab for the full list of 287 files.
What should I do if the download does not start?
Check the browser's download list first; an ad blocker or a company firewall can also hold it back, so try another browser or network. If the file arrives incomplete, download it again. For an installation problem, read the Install tab or tell us in the comments with your software version and the exact error message.
Is this file free?
Yes. Every file in the TEP Download Center is free for learning, personal and student projects. If you share it, link back to this page or the tutorial so others find the latest version.
How do I check that the file arrived complete?
Compare its SHA-256 with the one on this page, d88d9d71b175cf2ff17ae0eb05ae30ffa56b4a34ea440963e4470b431c0c9785. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash "arduino-nano-matter-tep-v1-0-d520d2f2fd7d42f99e00a745451ef76c.zip"; on macOS or Linux run shasum -a 256 "arduino-nano-matter-tep-v1-0-d520d2f2fd7d42f99e00a745451ef76c.zip". The same value means the file is exactly the one in our storage; a different one means the download broke off, so download it again.
Do I need WinRAR to open the ZIP file?
No. Windows, macOS and Linux open ZIP archives on their own (Extract All, or double-click). WinRAR and 7-Zip work too. Extract the whole archive before using the files.
Where do I put the LIB and IDX files?
Both files go into the LIBRARY folder of your Proteus installation (Proteus 8: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY; Proteus 7 has the same folder under its own name). Restart Proteus afterwards and search for the component with P.
Which Proteus version does the library need?
The tutorial names the Proteus version the library was made and tested with. Most TEP libraries work in Proteus 7 and Proteus 8; if the component does not appear after a restart, check that both the LIB and the IDX file were copied and that Proteus was fully closed while copying.
How do I get the HEX file into the simulation?
Compile the sketch in the Arduino IDE (Sketch → Export Compiled Binary gives you the HEX next to the sketch), then in Proteus double-click the board, set Program File to that HEX and run.
Members skip the wait. Log in or join TEP.
